Remember, Obamas entire margin of victory came from Ohio early voting in 2008. John McCain got more votes on election day than Barack Obama:

Per Jeff Jacobsen on Twitter: @jmj1961 "OH only 9% voted in person thru Fri. Dispatch says 8% had already &10% more said they would. Fewer EV hours last 3 days. No way 9 goes to 18"
(He refers to the 18% who voted early in 2008, i.e., Obama is sunk.)

What they also ignore is that Obama was so popular and McCain was so dismal, that a fair number of Republicans voted for “the black guy” to make history. This time, there are a lot of disgruntled, but thinking, democrats.
IOW, some of the republican voters voted for Obama in 2008 and some of the democrats will vote for Romney in 2012, making the numbers even worse for Obama than they already are.
Romney is going to slaughter Obama this time.

Bluffing? That's a strange word to be using. Miss-leading would be more appropriate.
In addition to more early voting by R's, less by D's (compared to 08) one needs to factor in that is much more likely for D's to be voting for Romney than R's voting for Obama.

Didn't he also say something along the lines of: "we are looking at paths to an EC victory that don't involve Ohio?" IIRC, it was the same day he said the "no matter what" quote.

Question: The 18% and 9% refer to percentages of RVs or of who actually voted in 2008?
If it’s a % of who voted in 2008 (total, not just early), then it’s a number that doesn’t really say much because we don’t know how many will vote this time. If it’s of RVs, and we know that only about 58% of RVs every vote, then it’s more meaningful.

David Axelrod is the Dr. Phil of the Obama campaign.
Heck I'll even throw in Dabney Coleman to the mix.
