One thing I’ve noticed about line cutting and the like: If a person thinks he’s doing it “for somebody else,” he has fewer qualms about cheating. The wife, the kids, the ailing mother . . .

Absent any accurate filtering system, there’s no way to tell who needs the gas more.

People should realize this before there’s unnecessary bloodshed.

Back in 1973 I had a Middle School class in "social studies". Prior to that, they always called it "History". Anyway, the thing I really remember about that year was that the teacher kept giving us morally ambiguous situations, and kept trying to convince us that stealing was perfectly OK, if -- let's say -- your child needed medicine. Or that cannibalism was a fine thing -- if you were in a rowboat in the middle of the ocean.

I was having none of it. There is Right and there is Wrong, and these things are NOT situational.

The teacher disliked me quite a lot -- I kept getting in the way of the Leftist propaganda.
