Three years ago when I held my father in laws hand as he passed from this world to the next
You should spend more time in one.
Time where you can look around and see how the workers treat the “clients”.
Between elections the 80 year with a mind as sharp as a tack is treated and talked to like a three year old.
Those who are feeble minded and have no relatives visiting have a food try placed in front of them only to have it collected uneaten with a “I guess Sally wasn’t hungry this morning.”
I’ve spent enough time in them to realize I do not want to end up in one - and I don’t want someone stealing my vote.
Just as a side note - our church has a relationship with a rest home in town. My daughter does the Easter Bunny, Christmas Elf bit and any hour visit easily stretches to 2 or more - the old folks just love kids “You’re just like my daughter - grand daughter, etc.”
Spending a few hours up there on Holidays you rarely see any family. So if you spent lots of time with your’s - good on you.
