Another lesson: If you bask in the envy of your friends because you live near a body of water, don’t go to them begging for help when that body of water bites you in the ass, as bodies of water, even small streams, have a tendency to do from time to time, so that you can rebuild and once again bask in their envy.
Sometimes it’s not the water biting you in the butt but the humans operating the water. Too many times along our waterways they’ve moved the eyes on the scene a hundred miles away to watch a computer. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called them to report a rise in the water that I’m witnessing at that very moment only to be told I’m stupid and don’t know what I’m talking about because their computers don’t show it.
