Union halting power repair crews is top Democratic donor

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, cited in news reports for halting nonunion repair crews from helping to restore power in superstorm Sandy's New Jersey-New York path, is one of nation's top union donors to Democrats, a group President Obama last year praised in a visit to an IBEW training Center.
The Center for Responsive Politics, a public political spending watchdog, said IBEW has the nation's fifth highest spending political action committee, doling out nearly $2.3 million, 97 percent of which went to Democrats. According to the group, IBEW during this election cycle has given $2,928,973 to Democratic House and Senate candidates, and just $51,600 to Republicans. They have also helped raise money for Obama.

great post jim i agree w/ you 100%! i met a fellow a few years ago who’s dad was slain by a group of teamster union thugs in the late 60’s after he resisted them i think only 1 was convicted but i think the twerp eventually got out of the clink.
Every state needs to be right to work....no if’s and’s or but’s.
No different from when we (US) were trying to send food aid to Somalia during the famine and the warlords were diverting it to gain power and control.
I hear you, friend. I have no love for them either. And I don’t take kindly to threats.
But if the folks of Jersey are willing to put up with this crap, well...that’s on them, isn’t it?

After trying to to see how the IBEW might actually be able to block a crew from a non-union state/company come to the coast to help, and failing, I’m throwing the BS flag on this story. Let’s say, for example, that I have a service truck and crew one state over with enough time on our hands to come help. What union screw is going to get in my way and what gov’t genius is going to say there’s no work? Not buying it although I can understand the uniondicks thinking they can bluff it true.
Christie painted himself into a corner. (Yeah, I know. It took a big brush and a lot of paint.) He praised obama. Now if he says anything against obama he knows the press will say he was forced to do it by Romney. obama is laughing at his fat ass.
