"You don't know what you're talking about. I've lived in New England all my life and I've never even heard of the term "wash ashore". What does that even mean? Nobody is "shunned" because of where they come from and frankly, nobody really cares. People move in and out of these parts all the time."

You are just making all of this up!"

LOL, really? Go ahead a google "washashore" and take your pick. here's just one,

http://www.capecodtoday.com/blogs/index.php/Washashore2

It is a term directed toward non natives of New England, people who are said to have "washed ashore" and decided to stay. I am making nothing up. I lived there for 12 years on the Cape and can cite you many instances of what is considered the typical and boorish "circle the wagon" attitude of the average native toward what they consider to be an outsider.

Listen, all that needs to be said about you folks in NE is you worshipped the Kennedy's, one of whom was a serial womanizer and the other who was a drunken, murdering slob.

I did google "wash ashore" before replying to you and came up with zippo with regard to New England. It sounds like you really had to try hard to come up with something in a Google search. I guess if you have the time to flip through screen after screen of results, you can come up with an obscure result eventually.

Been living here all my life and never heard that term before.
