New Englanders apparently a bunch of bloody pink woosies. Hurricanes happen. EVERY YEAR in this country. You live on the ocean, you die by the ocean. No gas, no electricity, therefore no fresh food. Unbelievable.

Been through four in one year. I know. It sucks. Get over it. Bunch of cry babies.

New Jersey and New York are not part of New England. Just FYI.

Would be a lot cheaper for the gov to require emergency preparedness courses of all coastal residents. Apparently they were not prepared, some older folks not even knowing a storm was coming - very neighborly of their neighbors, huh?

I would tend to agree with you, but keep in mind that -- astonishing as this may seem -- this was actually the first hurricane to make landfall in New Jersey since 1903. Every other hurricane that affected this state either made landfall elsewhere or weakened to a tropical storm before making landfall in New Jersey (like Irene in 2011).

This is just one of many reasons why this region was completely unprepared for the storm. If a blizzard came and dumped two feet of snow on Miami next week, I'm sure most people down there would be running around like they were suddenly dropped on Mars.

For your information, “New England” consists of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

New York and New Jersey are NOT part of it. Please get your facts straight before you insult an entire region. Not all of us are lefties up here either. Sheeeesh.

Here in CT, we were without power for four days- but we were prepared.

We had tons of water, cooking gas, car chargers for electronics, cans full of gas, plenty of food, personal cleaning supplies, oil lamps, wood, batteries etc.

We started preparing the Friday before and made certain it was all done by Sunday. When it hit on Monday we lost power almost immediately and the LAST people we would ever think would help us would be the govt.

There is no excuse for not being prepared...the govt will never save you and it is time people learned that lesson.

Now Obama has HIS “Katrina”- another disaster in his ‘legacy’ of failure....
