: Everyone who wants to run in the marathon must bring a donation of a box of food and a blanket. Doesn't seem like much considering the entry fee is hundreds..or..thousands...of dollars? Anyone know? It is not a matter of a few dollars.

$250 is the entry fee. It was mentioned in the “Charlotte Observer” article.
My experience of runners is that they are desperately self-centered, but that’s a small, local sample. Maybe there will be some helpful efforts made by the participants.

I don’t know the entry fee but right now the folks need food not money if they can’t get gas and don’t have power.
