Larry Johnson was also on CNN after Twa 800 blew up, and he was emphatic that the plane was taken down by terrorists. This was the night it happened and in the days that followed. I think that is the first time I saw him in the media though I could be misremembering.

He had a lot to say about a Pan Am flight - I think 103 Lockerbie- but until I go through the big file I have on him here from the Niger yellowcake days. I don't know if he said anything much about flt 800, or said anything contradictory as some in the clinton admin did until they settled on a single story.

Larry Johnson's also known for this nugget:

"I am not soft on terrorism; I believe strongly in remaining prepared to confront it. However, when the threat of terrorism is used to justify everything from building a missile defense to violating constitutional rights (as in the case of some Arab-Americans imprisoned without charge), it is time to take a deep breath and reflect on why we are so fearful. "

the Arab American he is referring to at this time- pre 9/11- must have been the Tampa Florida terrorist organizer Sami al Arian, who was trying to buy influence in both parties along with his associate at AMC Alamoudi, known for the donation to the Hillary clinton senatorial campaign which she reported as coming from the American MUSEUM Council instead of the American Muslim Council.

Here's Larry's friend at VIPS:

A group calling itself Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, representing former CIA employees, has fanned the flames of this controversy. But its spokesman, Ray McGovern, has some explaining of his own to do. He admits that he has given permission to reprint his articles critical of the Bush administration to publications associated with Lyndon LaRouche. McGovern, who had a 27-year career in the CIA, says researchers for LaRouche "do some fairly good work" and he sees "no downside" to them using his material. He claims to know nothing about LaRouche. That’s hard to believe. Larouche is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, again, and served time in prison on financial fraud charges. He has said that Bush and Cheney should be declared insane. Back in 1976, LaRouche called for bringing into being "a new Marxist International throughout the capitalist sector" and, before the first Persian Gulf War, he issued a statement calling for support for Iraq.------ "CIA Defector Defends Joe Wilson," By Cliff Kincaid , AIM Report, October 21, 2003
