It’s a little more complicated than that. Croats are Catholic, and Serbs are Orthodox. Their identities more or less emerged over their religious affiliation (Croats use Latin Alphabet, Serbs Cyrillic etc).
Croats and Serbs have conducted atrocities against each other for hundreds of years, and against the Muslim Bosniaks and Albanians.
Leftists should go visit the Balkans whenever they cry about people disagreeing with Obama as being “bigotry”.
