Good for him, if he actually mentions Obama by name. I think that’s necessary, so parishioners can’t pretend to themselves that they don’t know which candidate is pro-abortion.
The GOP platform is strongly pro-life, but the politicians on the national level barely mention the subject. McCain never brought it up, and neither has Romney to any great extent. And of course the press covers for Obama. All people are told is that he is “pro women.”
Bam-Bam has been running ads on Washington, DC television stations with multiple sound clips of Romney saying that he wants to see Roe v. Wade overturned, and wants to de-fund Planned Parenthood ... followed by "I'm Barack 0bama, and I approved this message."
They're the best pro-Romney ads I have ever seen.
What the Bishop wrote in the letter follows:
Today, Catholic politicians, bureaucrats, and their electoral supporters who callously enable the destruction of innocent human life in the womb also thereby reject Jesus as their Lord. They are objectively guilty of grave sin. For those who hope for salvation, no political loyalty can ever take precedence over loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ and to his Gospel of Life. God is not mocked, and as the Bible clearly teaches, after this passing instant of life on earth, Gods great mercy in time will give way to Gods perfect judgment in eternity.

I've heard more politics from the pulpit in the past 3 months than in my entire 45 years. Last week, Father came "this close" to calling out Obama and our state Congressional people by name.
If only, going forward, they would make it a common practice to give those types of strong, decisive, Church-in-the-modern-world homilies -- you know, much like the dreaded, monthly "contemporary music" Mass. Had they been doing that for the past 25 years, we wouldn't be in the predicament we're in.
