I know he’s a “Rino”. I know he’s not the conservative we were hoping for but America needs this man now.
I’m going to say this and then duck the tomatoes that are sure to come my way. Mitt isn’t as conservative as I would have liked, however, I seriously have my doubts now that any of the other candidates could have stood up to the Obama machine and captured the independents and Reagan Democrats.
I know many on here preferred Newt, but he just didn’t resonate with women voters, and had he captured the nomination, it would’ve been another McCain-like defeat. I think we truly need someone who can help bring this country together as one. Obama has divided this country like no other president has ever done.
Mitt was not my first choice but I do like what I have seen so far. He’s tough. He’s educated. He is a business genius and we need that more than anything. He has the guts to stand up for himself and the party, unlike McCain. He’s not selling out like McCain. Time will tell if he’s as good as he sounds but even if he’s more moderate he is a lot better than what we have now.
No tomatoes, I agree.
I can’t think o another one of our primary candidates who could have done this well.
I think Romney is more comfortable doing this than merely "speechifying," as Obama is wont to do.
And while Mitt is packing boxes and bags for storm victims, the “prince” had a photo op at the Red Cross. He told us that he would stand “behind” all the responders. He spouted a litany of “I want you to....” and said if anybody needs anything call him at the White House.
OH, I forgot. He had on a white shirt and tie and a black dress suit.
Albie, good post.
I agree Mitt doesn’t seem to be as conservative as I would like. But he is smart, and knows how to organize and run things. We need the adults back in charge, and I think Mitt is probably the best person for that job right now, along with Ryan.
I also think Mitt is going after WI, PA, MI, etc to get a stronger mandate. Not some fall back on OH.
We will know how conservative Mitt is in a couple years. But he will be a 1,000 times better than what we have now.
Herman Cain
I agree. I was for Sarah Palin and then Newt but have come to a similar conclusion about Mitt Romney.
I've even begun to like him. (Now I'm going to duck the tomatoes!)
I have to disagree with Herman Cain. I like him well enough, but the blacks wouldn’t have turned out for him either. Not that we are going to get much of the black vote anyway, but, I have to disagree that Herman Cain could’ve pulled this off.
Why would I waste a good tomato to be thrown at a FReeper? I would rather eat it than throw it! And...I agree with you. Wasn’t my choice, but has shown himself to be compassionate and tough at the same time. Country is at a terrible time in our history, and he might be the guy to pull us through. He loves this country, that is plain to see. He loves God, that is plain as well. He loves his family, that is also plain to see.
He got my vote already. Now it is in God’s hands.
Naw, I ain’t throwing any tomatoes at ya. I very much disliked Mitt Romney and favored Newt. However, when he became our nominee, I backed the ticket. Now am starting to like a lot of what I see in this man. We’ll see how this continues after he is elected.
My opinion of him has improved immensely these last few weeks as well.
Mitt’s got the best business/marketing people in the business working for him.
This was brilliant strategy to trump the power of PRIVATE CHARITY rather than gov’t charity.
We all know that Americans have the best privately charitable souls in the world.

That is quite true. For some reason, Newt Gingrich is toxic to most women. If he was the nominee, he'd be losing the women vote to Obama by 30-40 points easy and that would make it impossible for him to win overall.
At a family barbecue this past summer, the subject of Gingrich came up and every woman at the table immediately tensed up. I mean, it was like watching a bunch of cats arch their backs simultaneously. You could have lit a 100-watt bulb with the tension that was in the air.
It creeped me out a little.
I don't presume to get inside the minds of women, but my theory is that Newt's multiple marriages, the messy divorces and the "trophy wife" that is Callista is what gets to them. Regardless of he reasons, there is simply no way we could have won with Newt Gingrich as our nominee.
nutmeg, is your property ok? Been wondering all day.
I have believed my entire life that female intuition is very real.
