Last night, I noted that the Des Moines Register endorsed Mitt Romney for president. This is the first time that paper has endorsed the Republican presidential nominee since 1972.
It turns out that the Des Moines Register is not alone among Iowa newspapers. In fact, the three other major newspapers in this battleground state also endorse Romney. They are the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Quad City Times, and the Sioux City Journal.
The titles of the Quad City Times and Sioux City Journal endorsements might be particularly galling to diehard supporters of our once hopey-changey president: Ready for Change and Mitt Romney: Hes the Change America Needs.
I guess, despite what some liberal dunderheads have assumed, the first one wasn’t a fluke.

Imagine the “mess” Romney is going to “inherit”. No problem. He’s a doer and not a whiner. He can handle it.
But wait, according to Stephanie Cutter, who has the brains of a turnip, said that newspaper endorsements don’t matter..maybe not one endorsement, but EVERY SINGLE PAPER in the state..Oh Stephanie, I guess we will ALL be seeing you in the Unemployment Line very soon
I don’t care what they say. I’m holding out for the Council Bluffs Nonpareil!
So if Romney grabs IA’s 7 votes, CO’s 9 and NH’s 4, then the path around OH looks possible. Very tough but possible.
And you get the distinct feeling that he is salivating at the thought of fixing this mess. Not hoping he can change it but actually knowing and believing he can. He's not short on confidence, that's for sure.
IA, CO and NH don’t give him enough to win. That leaves him 2 short to even tie. He also needs NV. Below is my analysis of the 8 key swing states and his paths to victory. My opinion is his best path around OH is WI, CO and NH.
Romney has 248 EVs if he wins VA, NC and FL.
Swing states:
Pennsylvania (20)
Ohio (18)
Michigan (16)
Wisconsin (10)
Colorado (9)
Iowa (6)
Nevada (6)
New Hampshire (4)
Winning OH gets him 266. He needs any one of the other 7 remaining swing states to win, the smallest being NH.
Winning PA puts him in the same position at 268 of needing one more state.
Winning MI puts him in almost the same position, except NH wouldnt be enough to put him over the top then, hed need any one of the other bigger states.
Winning WI gives him 258 EVs. He needs 12 more EVs to win. It could be CO and any one of NH, IA or NV, or it could just be IA and NV.
If he misses all those bigger states, then he needs all 4 of CO, IA, NV and NH to win outright. He could lose NH in that scenario and still tie, which would guarantee him the win in the tie-breaking House vote, but possibly allow the Senate to elect Biden as V.P.
As a testament to his character, if he wins next Tuesday, Romney will NOT ONCE blame Obama for the country’s problems moving forward. Anyone doubt this?
Mittens is not a blamer.
This is great news. But wait....there’s more:
Believe it or not, two key newspapers in liberal bastions, the Detroit News and Sun Sentinel (Broward/Palm Beach), endorsed Mitt Romney this week. The tide may well be turning.
And we're gonna need that can-do attitude. I have a feeling that BO will leave economic and terror "land mines" of epic proportions on his way out the door.
I agree with you. If Romney wins, I fully expect him to act like a passenger in a car who has just managed to wrest control of the vehicle away from a retarded driver. Pat him on the head and toss him in the back seat, then get down to business.
Romney will NOT ONCE blame Obama for the countrys problems moving forward.
*****
Mitt is about we, not me.
Exactly! If Romney goes the “inherit” route even once I will be surprised. He’s not the crybaby type.
I suspect that a lot of non-Iowans don’t understand how huge this is.
The Des Moines Register and Quad City Times are two of the most leftest rags west of the Mississippi. They have never met a commie or socialist that they don’t love.
To borrow a quote from good ol’ Joe, “this is a big f—king deal”!
“If he misses all those bigger states, then he needs all 4 of CO, IA, NV and NH to win outright. He could lose NH in that scenario and still tie, which would guarantee him the win in the tie-breaking House vote, but possibly allow the Senate to elect Biden as V.P.”
There’s a chance Romney may pick up 1 EV in Maine.
