Having a back and forth with a former legendary Delta operator. Here is the gist of what he is implying:
Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not "paint" a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.If that SEAL was actively "painting" a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!
This is far bigger than Watergate.
The second worst feeling in the world has to be the platform crew being desperately asked for help, given a clear target and then having to stand down and watch your fellow Americans die.
The worst has to be the team on the ground knowing that the President just left you to die.
Update: Even with two Predators on station, one unarmed and filming and one armed, the call to stand down comes from the same sources. Earlier today, Bob Owens at PJ Media posts about the responsibility of the order to call off the mission as well as some good info about the AC130s on station.

Update 3: Jeff Emanuel thinks that we might be jumping to conclusions and that Jennifer Griffin at FoxNews might have misreported a statement about active laser on a target. I highly respect Jeff and Jennifer. And either could be correct right now. Hopefully, we'll get some clarification.
Update 4: From quoted retired Delta operator, "Jeff is correct (about lasing without air asset) but the only reason you would do that is to determine a specific grid for indirect fire which the SEAL did not have available. You are in an active firefight against mortars and MGs; there is only one reason to cease returning fire and paint a target and it ain't because you thought it was a good time to pull a PMCS on your fucking GLD."
Update 5: The only way I buy that the former SEAL was lasing the target without an active asset to synch to and destroy the target...maybe, just maybe, it was a last stand move. Maybe he did that to give the inbounds a target if he didn't make it...
Update 6: Another (very very trusted) source is saying that the AC130 resources were in the middle of a rotation and that the new resources weren't ready yet so no help would come from Sigonella. So that confirms Panetta's statement.

Strangely, 0bama decided to stick with the 'Anti-Islam video' narrative even though it didn't make sense any more to do so. 0bama went Islamic extremist, mentioning the 'video' SIX TIMES in his U.N. speech. Worse, he said "The future does not belong to those who insult the Prophet Mohammed". In doing so he denounced 'freedom of speech' in America while promoting Sharia Law (Note that the maker of this 'video' was IMMEDIATELY ARRESTED and is STILL in jail pending trial AFTER the election). It is against Sharia Law to insult the Prophet Mohammed; punishable by death. 0bama essentially denounced our Constitution. Apparently, he thinks the "future does not belong to" any culture where freedom of speech reigns supreme, including the United States of America.
0bama should be immediately brought before Congress for impeachment hearings for advocating the overthrow of America's founding principles.

No one knows the future. They had sent an available force that was in country. That force was delayed. The former Seals had driven off several attacks and had survived for several hours. They may have thought that they would make it without bringing assets from out of country.

Denial of requests for security were a dereliction of duty. The lies and misdirection about the "video" after the attack were fraud and malfeasance under the color of authority. The inaction during the attack was something more than that.
The failure to act during the attack is the direct equivalent of desertion IMO.

Reports from Fox today stated that the seals had ‘painted a laser target’ on the mortar nest of the terrorists. Quite a few military guys picked up on that ditty and helped to blow this whole coverup out of the water. This is an important piece of the puzzle to prove Obama and Panetta are lying!!
I will bet, you can’t find a reference, to the Arab protests prior to Sept. 11th 2012, that are connected to the “Innocence of Muslims” video.

THAT is what I see as the obstacle also. It is entirely possible that she runs the White House, as well as Obama.
However, this vacancy of the pres ceding everything will cause many to jump ship, cross over and aim fire on the dereliction of duty. It’s already happening, as drips will become a stream.
So do you think the source is lying about there not being an aircraft immediately available at Sigonella, or do you think they screwed up the rotation schedule either deliberately or out of incompetence? What do you think is going on?
Would Obama have authorized the drone to be there? Who would have determined whether the drone (either the original or the one that replaced it) had hellfires on them?
The thing that leads me to believe it was not incompetence or just wanting to not have a Jimmy Carter moment right before the election is the refusals in advance to allow more security for Stevens.
And the fact that the White House knew anything about this video that had hardly any views and was created/uploaded by a terrorist cousin of Walid Shoebat who has connections with the Muslim Brotherhood (that planned the 9-11 shenanigans in Egypt), as well as linking to Obama stuff.
Those things really look like advance preparations for this event, not just incompetence. Obama vetoed his Secretary of State to make sure that Stevens was not protected, after a 40-foot hole had been blown in the wall of the consulate. That’s not incompetence. Obama can say he didn’t know about added requests for security, but if Hillary requested additional security and it got vetoed, my understanding is that there is only one person who could have done it. Obama HAD to know, and he personally made sure that Stevens was unprotected.

I think Hillary, or the State Dept., jumped the gun on blaming the attacks on the video.
It looks to me that the very first reports regarding the video came from a State Dept. press release and was picked up by the media. I read one report that suggested the video played a role in Egypt, but that report only came out after Benghazi attacks. All other reports, prior to Sept. 11 regarding Egypt involved the release of prisoners etc.
That being said, I think 0bama tried to give Hillary some cover on this.

The assets which might be scrounged from the Annex probably had the technical constraints described from 1-2 decade old technology. National intel assets might not be so primitive.
While generally it is the target that is painted when lazed, it isn’t inconceivable that more advanced technologies at the national level might be able to trace both the paintor and the paintee.
Dropping mortars at night on moving targets isn’t easy, unless maybe 120mm rounds. If this is a coordinated black op company sized attack, with say 2 platoons of politically motivated militants for screening and canon fodder, and one wpns plt for supporting arms and one maneuver element, then they likely had something like a knee mortar or a 60mm mortar or a Russian variant. Well trained infantry from Korean War era could place mortar rounds with correction with about 5ft accuracy at say 1000yds, but most mortar men in daylight and registered fires at preplanned targets might have 30yd accuracies and lesser trained 3rd world militias can be off by a couple 100 yds of their aiming points. At nighttime, figure 50yd accuracy for militias.
I don’t know what these guys have in their arsenals, but if they were lazing their targets, that means they have line of sight on their targets and their targets can also acquiesce them by direct observation, though in darkness.
If weapon platforms weren’t aloft for them to synch their laze, they might have lazed to provide national assets target ID for other platforms to acquiesce.
On the other hand, in the world of BlackOps, and at national level resources, once they paint the target, they themselves might be painting themselves to national resources. If a weapons platform was aloft, whoever operated the controls might also have been directed to eliminate either as a target.
If the controlling authority was cold enough to tell them to stand down as they were acquiesced by mortar fire, it also might be cold enough to target the heroes to control the situation. IMHO, it would be far easier a shot for national resources to take out the ex-SEALS than for some militant band of Muslims with scrounged weapons and zeal to take them out with mortars at night, while on the move, and changing scenarios from their original plan.
Of course this is all conjecture,..worlds of possible worlds, ..theoretical conspiracy theory,...we’ll probably will never know all of it, but it would be nice to know why the people are never informed of the wars our nation is leading even when they are supposedly are being phased out.
...the drones would probably been in operation normally for observation purposes because of the recent unrest and activities. The aircraft (c-130’s and others) would have been ready period. Crews and operators on alert 24/7 for weeks before hand, special operations prepared to go at anytime always in Europe. They were alerted and already had made decisions,(moves) when it first occured. Aircraft for rotation purposes are in constant readiness period. The drones operation was probably more observation than engagement,but still most likely lightly armed.

Sigonella is normally used as a rotation base to ferry military personal and equipment all over...ALL OVER...the special operators and aircraft were not in rotation per say....but stationed (on assignment)within two hours of Libya
