Your post took me down Memory Lane. We had great music, didn’t we? I was an Elton John, The Eagles, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers fan and always loved Meatloaf. I miss Freddie Mercury.

If we are to believe some of the posts on this thread, it's the greatest thing since Beefheart!

Yep, we had great music and I appreciate this post taking me back to listen to some of it. Dashboard lights is timeless, great every time I watch it.

I believe it was Oprah that had a film clip of Romney’s preparing one of their favorite meals, mashed potatoes and meat loaf patties, in their own kitchen. Apparently he likes to cook and having five boys to raise, I would suspect that there was a lot of meat and potatoes on the menu.

I have difficulty picturing Mrs. Romney telling anyone what they need to eat or what to feed their family.

What do we say when people say RHPS espouses values far from conservative?

I know it dates me, but I got to see Meat Loaf on his original 1977 Bat Out of Hell tour at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium - 10th row seat.

Meat Loaf is a helluva singer, and his partner, Jim Steinman, is a helluva song writer (sort of the Wagner of rock).

The fact that you know nothing about this chubster with the golden tubes speaks volumes about both of you - You either missed the 60s-80s or eschewed the popular music. You never saw Rocky Horror Picture Show. For him, it means that even though he has always had a dedicated fan base, he has not tried to become a political activist vs. and entertainer.

A friend of mone answered an ad to buy hundreds of old vinyl records and drove to OH to get them. He was taken to a basement where he saw multiple gold records on the wall. They said Meatloaf, and Bonnie Tyler. Turns out he was buying Jim Steinam’s record collection.

Liberals are posting this video of a “drunken” Meatloaf singing America the Beautiful with Romney at Thursday’s campaign stop.

Total Eclipse of the Heart for Tyler. I wish I had been there to make a better offer!

I've always felt that, while Steinman can songwrite for other singers, Meat Loaf is the best artist for his music, just as I've always believed Art Garfunkel was the best for Paul Simon.

BTW, at that 1977 concert, Steinman opened the show, played the piano throughout, and voiced the male part of the dialogue that starts the song Hot Summer Night.

Actually, I was a LOT different - border-line introvert, but had a couple friends who put up with my idiosyncracies and kept me abreast of some of what was going on. I liked Paul Revere and the Raiders and a lot of the "smoother" music and didn't care much for the real Rock-n-Roll/Hard Rock unless I was drinking heavily - something that made the world less bothersome and chasing after women easier. Wasn't trying to slam you in any way.
