Officials at the White House and State Department were advised two hours after attackers assaulted the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11 that an Islamic militant group had claimed credit for the attack, official emails show.

The emails, obtained by Reuters from government sources not connected with U.S. spy agencies or the State Department and who requested anonymity, specifically mention that the Libyan group called Ansar al-Sharia had asserted responsibility for the attacks.

Which raises the question if ME protests were sparked/inflamed to remove diplomats/foreign presence thereby allowing arms to walk.

While some information identifying recipients of this message was redacted from copies of the messages obtained by Reuters, a government source said that one of the addresses to which the message was sent was the White House Situation Room, the president's secure command post.

And where are the WaPo and the Slimes and NBCBSABC? Has anybody asked 0's National Security Advisor Tom Donilon for a statement about this? Let me guess: No. There's a scandal in Benghazi, there's a scandal in the WH, and there's a scandal involving the drive-by media's curious lack of curiousity about this. But I guess those reporters are still trying to put together the pieces in the Valerie Plame/Scooter Libby story to worry about this one.

Good question. I am reminded of how the democrats and leftists screamed bloody murder all during the Bush Administartion on how we supposedly armed the mujaheddin during the Russian war in Afghanistan and how 911 was blowback......blah,blah,blah...

Obama doing worse by arming the jihadists all over the ME.....crickets!

You're absolutely right those are the reasons it is so infuriating. I feel something beyond merely being infuriated. It's like sadness but not exactly. I was infuriated with Slick Willie's treason. This is anger, disgust, sadness and I don't know what else and I don't have a name for it.

You're right that it couldn't be the first explanation because I'm sure he was being given options. Forcefully and demandingly being given options. It couldn't be the first because the coverup hoax wouldn't have come so fast and so easily. But I knew it was the second explanation because I had already come to that conclusion about his character. For whatever reason or reasons he chose not to even consider acting.

We're into territory beyond the Schrödinger's Cat Event Horizon.

Thank you for all of your post. I think that may be the best explanation I have heard for the world we have today. LOL

I didn't want Romney. I didn't want him with a passion. I hope he proves me so dead wrong that it makes me want to send him a letter of apology. For better or worse he has my vote and I hope to hades he wins for all of our sakes.

Egypt’s Interior Minister says security forces have intercepted a group of smugglers bringing in weapons from Libya.

Gen. Ahmed Gamal Eddin told reporters Wednesday that two trucks carrying 25 rockets, 102 rocket-propelled grenades and 102 mortar rounds were seized on the highway near Marsa Matrouh, 430 kilometers (270 miles) northwest of Cairo on the Mediterranean coast.

It’s worse than saying ‘treason’ but what else can you call it? Would a field commander just hang up if one of his squads called in and said they were pinned down and being overrun? What would that be called?

I know what you mean; I feel the same way. Words fail me too. The best I can do is to maybe throw heart-broken and incredulous (both that Zer0's behavior was even possible) into the mix.

I dunno. Describing this is the job of a drunken poet. I can assume the former status but not the latter.

“There was a variety of information coming in,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday on Air Force One. “The whole point of an intelligence community and what they do is to assess strands of information and make judgements about what happened and who was responsible.”

“This is an open source, unclassified email about a posting on a Facebook site,” Carney said. “I would also note that within a few hours the organization itself claimed that it had not been responsible. Neither should be taken as fact. That is why there is an investigation.”

Maybe if Stevens had not included Facebook screenshots in communications from Benghazi, he would have been given extra security and would be alive today. /s

How sad and frightening the admin will throw pure BS knowing 99 % of the media will run with it.

Benedict Arnold betrayed West Point.

We mourn the loss of people. There were also assaults on our sovereign territory in several countries that day. This is about pushing us out of the ME....and arming IRAN.

No. Not terrorism.

‘terror.’ The two are different. He meant it in broad terms, like ‘fearful.’ Not Islamic terrorism.

He has never mentioned Islamic terrorism in the debates.

Petraeus is muzzled.

Yep. Being a good soldier and not publicly questioning his boss.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I would have loved to serve under Genal Petraeus....He is a soldiers’, soldier. That being said, he should have never been appointed Director, CIA. He should have been SecDef.

While not publicly questioning the Won, and “that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”, I believe he authorized the release of the E-mails to the press, thus not participating in unlawful orders.

How’s that for two cents’ worth?

Well it's a nice try.

A good if not great General he may have been but there is simply no doubt that he bought into the Big YouTube Lie and supported it with the release or at least endorsement of the "Talking Points". And don't forget his misrepresentation of the facts in his meeting with Congress.

Unforgiveable behavior. He is no longer suited to be the head of CIA. Maybe Obama wants him out. I don't care. Throw him under the bus.
