Germany's Merkel is right -- multiculturalism has failed

October 18, 2010
By David Frum, CNN Contributor

-snip-

In Berlin, young men of immigrant stock are three times as likely to commit a crime as young men of German background, reports Germany's state broadcaster, Deutsche Welle. In a September interview, Chancellor Merkel endorsed claims that religious young men of Muslim origin were more likely to commit acts of violence than other young Germans.

Any other nation and I'd be a lot more willing to let statements like this ride. While it does make sense to me, the German record isn't all that great when it comes to generalities.

It seems as if Western governments are allowing social outcasts to enter their nations to cause severe problems, and are then using the excuse of regaining control to turn our nations into police states of varying degrees.

Not at all happy about it.

We're in a hole with problematic immigrants. I'd just like our leaders to quit digging! Stop immigration for ten to thirty years (with exceptions allowed), whatever it takes. Let's get back on track then open the doors again slightly.

I do think immigration can be good, but there is absolutely not discernment applied these days.
