You know. I have a cousin in Orem UT that has been Mormon since she was married. The lady is in her 80s now. One day, after she called me we got to talking about faith and how many people have died as a result of religion. I.E. the dark ages etc, as well as the persecution and the terrible things her religion has done. We talked about our ancestors, who came over in the 1630s because of religious persecution to Salem Mass and how the Salem witch trials were carried out because of politics in religion. So I asked her..”Judy, does the Mormon religion recognize Jesus as the Christ and the son of God?” She told me yes, no matter what others say. She also said that a lot has changed in her religion and that is why a lot of sects have broken away since they have become more mainstream. Still, they have some real strange things and I for one will not condemn them...so do the Catholics, Protestants and on and on. I doubt not one of these fine handed SOBs that like to attack anothers religion here understand that even today, Catholics are shunned in parts of Scotland.

No other religion as I see it backs the family like the Mormons do. It is a tough religion..as well as strange, but so be it.

Its by faith...

Mormonism is not a Christian denomination, it is an entirely different, polytheistic religion created in the 1800s.

To quote the Catholics:
“”By following all the rules and ordinances of God here, Mormon men and women have the potential of also becoming gods (by first becoming a good Mormon, paying a full ten percent tithe to the Mormon church, and follow various laws and ordinances of the church). “As god once was, man is. As God is, man may become” (Joseph Smith’s words). Mormons believe that there are many worlds and many gods. Each god is similar to God the Father, having the same powers and omnipotence, and even being able to create their own worlds. “Heavenly Father” is only the name of the god who rules over this world.””

If you're talking formally, the Lds has been largely AWOL -- grassroots troop-wise -- from the formal pro-life movement...and the Lds church allows for abortions for reasons of incest, rape, health of the Mom, if the abortionist says so, and if the Mormon god says so (via prayer)

Same-sex marriage wise, they got behind two ballot initiatives in CA...But that was just ONE state (out of dozens where SSM has been fought)...in an 8-yr period...

If you're talking informally...I don't think telling family members that they are "gods in embryo" -- entities beyond the human race -- is "edifying"...I don't telling family members that their "elder spirit brother" from some pre-existent world that they can't remember was Lucifer...is edifying...

Nor do I think their telling that if you marry more than one spouse in the temple "for eternity" that you'll become eternal polygamists is edifying.
