“might I suggest that this annual dinner actually shows America and the Church at their best?”

Cardinal Dolan is either stupid or evil; he didn’t act like he was sitting down with one of the most dedicated supporters of the murder of children.

If he had sat down with Hitler in 1944, would his defenders find some loophole that would justify that?

On another thread I said too many in the Catholic hierarchy had stopped believing in the Divine Presence in the Eucharist; I’ll add this to growing evidence that too many in the Catholic hierarchy also stopped believing abortion is the murder of a child. It shows in how Catholics vote; they’ve apparently stopped believing in Hell.

You are too correct- and it is a crisis for the Church. When clergy abandone essential doctrine (Real Presence), or parse it to mean something else, it is scandal in the extreme.
Cardinal Dolan however, is neither evil nor stupid. Quite the opposite- stay tuned.

I was going to say: Imagine Fulton Sheen sitting down and yucking it up with Adolf Hitler!

What has become of the leaders of our Church? They seem to have lost the four cardinal virtues in their souls: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance.

Present the ‘growing evidence’ you refer to.

Wee bit judgemental, aren’t ye, Kearny? You would kiss the Cardinal’s arse if ye had the brains you were born with.
Yet we forgive your tresspass...

Where are you getting this about priests and bishops not believing in the Real Presence? Source please.

Are you aware that Cardinal Dolan flew into New York from Rome and then flew back again and has been asked by the Pope to head up a peace envoy to Syria?

Do you speak with forked tongue?

Half the people attending the Al smith dinner are as pro choice as Obama and half more so or even with Romney, based on the statistics of 50% of Catholics voting pro choice in every presidential race since Roe V Wade. And the more damning statistic that New Yorkers (who make up the group at the dinner) wouldn’t vote in a pro choice candidate without causing massive shock around the country.

First, as soon as Obama reaches the infamy that Hitler did by 1944, the church will be able to shun him. As it stands, all pro choice politicians in office are acceptable within the US.

And some within parishes who accept them along with their “social justice” money.

If you care to notice, 50% of people who consider themselves to be Catholics vote pro-choice. If you don’t realize this, you are not tuning in.

Second, the Al Smith dinner is not Mass. There is no Eucharist and no one is taking communion.

When all Catholics stand together and renounce all pro choice politicians, we will have what we had in 1944, when the Allies were soon able to make the local Germans help them clean up the mess in and around the concentration camps.

As it is, there are many under the assumption that all participants at the Al Smith dinner were all pro life by virtue of being Catholic, and there is much work to be done to inform and much of that can be done by inviting Obama and opening up mockery of the pro abortion ridiculousness of his and others like his stance in politics.

The Democrat party has been taken over by the pro choice militants. It’s bout time it was brought out into the open.
