You are advocating treating symptoms rather than focusing on confronting root causes of the disease and its syndrome.

Here is the most powerful medicine:

and even a professor in a liberal academic power center is advocating a complimentary medicine:

“Take the Senate Away From Voters”

“Take the Senate Away From Voters”

Pete Hoekstra took some heat for suggesting that the 17th should be repealed. The 17th amendment was snake oil that fooled people into feeling empowered as the power of the states were stripped away.

Michigan is a perfect example of what's wrong with the 17th amendment. We've got a large majority GOP state legislature, everything from governor to dog catcher is GOP, and we have a majority US house delegation from Michigan but two democrat senators in Washington are making opposing decisions for the state from the federal level.

If it weren't for the 17th amendment, Michigan would have two GOP senators in Washington.

We should take back the senate. It would be more of a republic then.

Everyone votes but I am not sure they should, when plenty of Obama supporters -— or anyone -— don’t know what “Benghazi” is.

One of the founding fathers said, “Wait until they find out they can vote themselves money!” Well, I used to think that was just a nice prescient quote. Now, I want to yell at that guy and pull his ponytailed, powdered wig, and tell him, “Get back in there and fix that!”

That’s a MUST. It would be interesting to see what would happen if we could get that through Congress (or maybe bypass Congress, if needed). The state legislators would then be voting to enable themselves to select Senators. I think it just might pass.
