I work in a place and with people such that I can definitively say that you're just wrong.
The US govt does not have a monopoly on computer/network/security whizzes.
I work in Internet and security is a really big problem in our field.
In particular for clients who are banks using Fednet(like they have a choice) and hospitals.
I don’t have any nuclear labs or plants but that would be kewel.
“The” government doesn’t have the monopoly. The rely on internal resources and outsourced resources.
A good friend of mine, we’ll call him Woz, introduced me to a good friend of his, we’ll call him Mitnick, and he explained what they are doing.
It was nothing short of amazing.
