That's what's been in the news. I expect the pressure from our forces in theater became too much for panetta and clinton, to the point where they arranged the hit, leaving buttboy little to no room to stop it.
Jarrett likely discovered the coup from the breathless buttboy's hasty phone call. Wasn't he biting his nails in the famous photo? Gates was grinning like a opossum in the photo; I'm pretty sure he would have been in on it.
