The Obama campaign released news on Saturday morning of a holiday weekend, that it had raised a massive $181 million in September. It's a staggering sum heading into the final month of campaigning.
It almost equals his fundraising for July and August combined. But details about Obama's fundraising windfall and a new report this morning from the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) raise troubling questions. Specifically, how much of this fundraising was illegal?
GAI found that Obama's donation page doesn't use any industry-standanard card security measures.
...It isn't an oversight but a conscious decision to not use CVV security. In fact, credit card companies charge the campaign higher fees because it doesn't use this. So, the campaign is paying millions of dollars more in fees than it would not to have basic security.
Tellingly, the Obama campaign does use CVV security in its merchandise store. They utilize higher standards of security to purchase a coffee mug than making an on-line donation.

Who says they actually raised $181,000,000? I dug and dug yesterday and all I came up with was a SINGLE TWEET. Then I read a NYT article this a.m. that talked about the aftermath of debate #1 and they mentioned that they sent that info out. As far as I’m concerned they made up a number.
Holder would be putting Romney in cuffs himself if Romney was doing this.
I’m sure that MSNBC will be all over this story. In the last election cycle, they were frustrated at money of unknown or foreign origin going into Republican campaigns in the 2010 mid term elections. Since MSNBC is on top of campaign funding, and transparency in noting where money comes from, I expect that they will dig into Obama’s campaign fund sources to get to the bottom of things.
...amazingly, Obama.com, which simply redirects to the Obama donation page, gets almost 70% of its traffic from foreign sources.
If I wanted to contribute, say, $100 million to zer0....and may name was, say, g soros, how would I go about it?
I think I’d spend about $50 of that $100 million to buy a ream or case of fanfold checks, connect a PC with a good forms printer, and make 2,000,000 $50 checks... oh, I forgot - I’d also buy a good envelope stuffer and envelope printer.
The US Mail would see a big bulge in bulk mailings, but zer0 would be $100 million richer within a week.
They raised in value $181 Million. Doesn’t necessarily mean its actual money. Where do you think he has been getting all that sh!t he keeps spewing, he doesn’t home grow it.
Does anybody really care! Evidently not of this would have been corrected and prevented after 2008. We have a screwed up system. Where is the GOP on this matter. Somebody needs to file suit today to expose this matter.

I am just cynical enough to think most of it is illegal. Will he get away with it? Yes, of course he will. Will anyone ever do anything about it? Not a snow balls chance. Has Obama ever done anything that is legal?

Saw an article, can’t remember where, this weekend on the administration’s supporting one of the Mexican drug cartels over the others, and letting them have free rein in exchange for reducing violence. Of course, they’re just slaughtering everyone with Obama’s blessing, if this is true. Might explain the cash influx, and no problem for them to launder it through in sub-reportable amounts.
