New Obama ad slams Romney as 'dishonest' (childish desperation)
The Hill ^ | 10/6/2012

The Obama campaign is launching a new swing-state ad accusing Mitt Romney of dishonesty in the debate and his own advertising.

The advertisement uses footage from Wednesday's debate to continue one of the more contentious exchanges from the debate, over whether Romney's tax plan calls for a $5 trillion tax cut.

"I'm not in favor of a $5 trillion tax cut," said Romney during the debate.

President Obama and Romney went back and forth on the point during the debate, with the president contending Romney would not be able to eliminate enough deductions and loopholes to make his plan to lower taxes across the board deficit-neutral.

Obama's campaign also is taking Romney to task for one of the challenger's recent ads. In an ad released earlier this week, Romney's campaign cites an "independent, non-partisan study" that found the president's policies would raise taxes on the middle class.

"Barack Obama and the liberals will raise taxes on the middle class," the Romney ad states.

That study was authored by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). While AEI is officially nonpartisan, it is widely considered to be right-leaning.

Obama's ad highlights the fact that Vice President Dick Cheney is on its board, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was a fellow there. Although it does not name him specifically, the ad also casts aspersions on AEI's independence by highlighting Kevin Rollins, its chairman, was a partner at Bain & Company while Romney headed it.

"It's not independent, it's just not true," states Obama's ad.

The ad will run in a number of states still being fiercely fought over by the campaigns: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.

So now the Obama campaign is screaming "liar, liar pants on fire!"

They also are coming out with Romney wants to cut Social Security lie.

I love the smell of desperation in the morning.

Me thinks Zer0 is treading on treacherous ground to be accusing Romney of being a liar.

I can see an ad starting with Joe Wilson’s shout out “YOU LIE!” My tagline has been there for several months. There should be an overwhelming supply of video evidence to support it.

“””Gee our President who refuses to release any of his college records and said a Youtube video caused the riots and killing of our Ambassador has the never to “slam Romney as dishonest”. Funny how now a “Obama killed Bin Laden” movie will be on TV Nov 4th and the White House (who still said at the UN Speak - it was the video) is OK with the release of this! We need to get Adults back in the White House”””

Comment at site, I agree

Team Obama just ignore the allegations that something is a lie. They continue to repeat it, even after the fact checking has shown it to be false.

Libya and the video.

Romney the felon.

Romney the tax cheat.

Romney the murderer who killed Joe Soptic’s cancer-ridden wife

Romney’s $5 trillion.

Team Obama have so little to run on that they have to throw lies against the wall in hopes that some parts will stick.

But, as we learned from Dan Rather in 2004, it isn’t the accuracy of the report, it is the seriousness of the charge.

That is why Obama was continuing to use the $5 trillion allegation as late as Thursday, even though fact checking showed it a lie.

I think they are stepping in it big time. Using the actual word “liar” and then telling their own lies to try to justify it. It looks like Mitt and his team are more on the ball than many thought and they should be able to do more damage to Zero because of the obvious deperation that is now leaking from all the burst seams.

Al Capone accuses Eliot Ness of being a corrupt and evil mobster. Man that obama looks in a mirror before he lies about Romney.

Obama in crash and burn mode. His advisors cannot tell the emperor he has no clothes. I hope they continue to keep their heads in the sand.

Romney needs to be out there visible this week. Doing talk shows. Also these major policy speeches he is planning need to be done in a forum that will get him some major press.

Ryan will clean the floor with Biden. And with Joe there is the potential for a MAJOR gaffe.

Liberals consistently accuse others of what they themselves are doing or what they are. Consistently.

Joe IS a major gaffe. I may smile more the day after Ryan disrpobes this buffoon than I did after Mitt gave us all a glimpse of the Obama that the MSM has been trying to hide.

The Romney campaign needs to come up with a 30 second ad consisting of nothing but King Barry’s ums, uhs, stammers, and babbles.

What Romney has to do is respond to each and ever ad forcefully. One of the reasons he fell behind is that he allowed Obama some succes in defining him. He will lose a good chunk of his bump from the debate if he doesn’t effectively negate these ads immediately and forcefully. One more time - respond to these allegations forcefully - ad for ad, dollar for dollar or risk losing the momentum you’ve created.

Fight like hell. Now.

Does anyone know a brief history of where team-Obama came up with Romney suggesting a 5 trillion tax cut? Can they (team-Obama) point to any comment, writings, ... anything where Romney said that number?
