Pew Charitable Trusts vs. Keystone Pipeline

Pew and their posse have underwritten a crusade by Canadian environmentalist nonprofits to obstruct the development of the Great White North’s oil sands resources. That obstruction in turn obstructs the possibility of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would connect Canada’s booming oil production with American refineries, and thereby boost both nations’ GDP, create thousands of new jobs, and reduce America’s dependence on oil from nations that are rather less friendly than Canada.

Pew waged a stealth war to achieve campaign finance "reform." Now it has a stealth war to stop Canada's oil sands development and the Keystone XL Pipeline that would bring that oil to the US.

So Pew is getting money from bipartisan NIMBYs here, in the US. They and their “property values.” Disgusting. They’re cheating their closest neighbors (regulations, lawsuits, etc.) and keeping our country out of work in many ways.

They might stop Keystone, but they're not going to stop tar sands development.

Oil is being shipped by rail to Vancouver and on to China. Plans are being made for a pipeline to Kitimat on the Pacific coast. China is a willing buyer.

If the US doesn't want tar sands oil, the Chinese do.

BP is spending about FOUR BILLION DOLLARS to upgrade the Whiting Indiana refinery for Canadian tar sands.

Looks like they want the heavy oil.
