The guy in the video specifically said it is not supercharged.

I can't watch the video at the moment, but that really looks like a gear-driven supercharger on the top of the engine, under the carburetor.

Did he explain what it was?

After visual inspection, I can confidently state that the supercharger shown in the photo above is synchronous (or cogged) belt driven, and not gear driven.
