I don’t know who my garbage collector is, nor do I really give a darn. I take comfort in the knowledge that someone is performing this service, for which I pay, and the collection service is a viable business providing employment and strengthening the economy.

Does that make me evil and uncaring as well?

Lol - it makes you pure evil.

Seriously, what is it these days that everyone needs to be adored for doing their jobs?

I say just go to work, do your job to the best of your ability, and collect your pay cheque. If you’re cheerful and do a good job, you are going to get some positive feedback at some point, but even if you don’t, so what?

Just do it for the sake of doing a good job. That in itself is reward. God’s watching - He knows what you’re doing.
