(CNSNews.com) Former Virginia Governor and current Democratic Senate candidate Tim Kaine said he would be fine with state legislatures changing the definition of marriage to include gay couples during a debate on Sept. 20.
Kaine, in a tight race with former Republican Senator and Governor George Allen, said that everybody should have the type of legally sanctioned marriage he and his wife enjoy.
I would be fine if they [state legislatures] did it and they labeled it marriage or civil unions or domestic partnership, Kaine said when asked if he agreed with President Barack Obamas position on legalizing same-sex marriage. For me, the test is: Are people treated the same and given the same legal rights and responsibilities regardless of their sexual orientation?
I think legal equality should be the policy, said the Democratic candidate.
Kaine also said that being for equality is never a bad thing and that homosexual couples should be able to enjoy the type of socially recognized relationship that he and his wife do.
As I get older, Ive come to the conclusion that being for equality is never a bad thing, said Kaine. We dont make a mistake when we follow the basic constitutional prescription that everybody should be entitled to equal protection under law.
My wifes here and Ill just say that the relationship weve had for over 28 years is something that I hope everyone would have, Kaine said. I think everybody should be able to have that kind of relationship regardless of their sexual orientation. I want everybody to be able to have it and not to have to hide it. I think it ought to be subject to being legally recognized and even legally celebrated.
All people are born with heterosexual equipment. Sodomy is a perversion of what nature clearly intended. By definition, homosexual acting out is aberrant behavior. As regards "homosexual marriage", it is non-existent. It is the ultimate oxymoron. Marriage is only possible between heterosexual couples. Changing word meanings, passing laws does not change essence. You can call a cow a horse but that does not confer upon the cow the qualities of being a horse. Same with marriage. To repeat, homosexual marriage is not possible.
He calls himself a devout Catholic too. Archbishop LoVerde must admonish and then excommunicate him if necessary.
He's as stupid today as he was several years back when he signed on to be Virginia's governor.
We may have done worse but no one recalls it.
I would be fine with homosexual “marriage” in the same way I would be fine with a doberman marrying a pine tree (would the puppies be dogwoods?). You can call it “marriage”, but that doesn’t make it real.
What a Macaca.
so Kaine endorses homosexual marriage. How does this affect the election?
Of course you would be fine with it, you morally bereft moron. Just as you were fine with sneaking around in the last days of your sorry office, trying to get a murderer released to his native country so he could be paroled there.
I cannot stand Kaine and I cannot understand why he is leading Allen in the polls.
I just read the headline, but it sounded like the acceptance to a proposal.
Wonder what his wife thinks about his comparing his marriage to that of two queers?
She probably thought there was something unusual about his habits in the bedroom.
If Kaine is fine with homosexual marriage then Kaine is fine with children being denied a mother or a father. Why is he fine with children being treated unequally??
Tim Gayne:
you and others do not realize what the effect would be on religion, well Catholic and Protestant, as laws would be enacted to stultify or outright silence certain parts of the Bible.
Same with all historical documents and real meaning of words.
You are proposing turning natural law on it’s head and playing god with God.
It can’t end well for you or society’s that do this.
He always was “fine” with sodomite “marriage.” He said that when he ran for Lt. Governor in ‘02.
Dunno, but there'd be a lot of BARK to them!!! (I just kill me)
Kaine just raised an eyebrow with that remark... his own.
Seriously though... I hope Allen makes noise over this. Virginia isn’t that progressive.. yet.
My Governor, Martin O’Malley, calls himself a Catholic too and he signed off on gay marriage.
Kaine, in a tight race with former Republican Senator and Governor George Allen, said that everybody should have the type of legally sanctioned marriage he and his wife enjoy.
Mr Kaine you can not be that stupid...
Would you be okay with cousins marrying?
How about 1 guy 3 women or 1 woman and 3 guys?
How about an adult and a child?
You really should engage your brain before you open your mouth!
Any man, homosexual or not, can marry any woman he wants to. Any woman, homosexual or not, can marry any man she wants to.
This is equality and it is not good enough for them. Instead, however, they want to invent new rights where they get to redefine the definition of marriage.
For me, the test is: Are people treated the same and given the same legal rights and responsibilities regardless of their sexual orientation?
Sexual orientation is a choice.
Choices do not need to receive special rights.
What if the sexual oreintation the person chose to follow is pedophilia?
Same legal rights for them Mr Kaine?
He is a Democrat. This is news? Regardless of anything that has come out of his piehole in the past, I would have assumed his embrace of the homosexual agenda was encompassing and enthusiastic.
One of the oddities of the 21st century is VA turning Democrat and WV turning Republican, at least at the presidential level.
