Brown: Steel case shows Warren sides with big business (MA Senate Race)

Republican Sen. Scott Brown lobbed hypocrisy charges against Democrat Elizabeth Warren today for her work on behalf of a steel conglomerate in 1995, saying it contradicts her claims of being a champion of the middle class.

“I think it’s hypocritical to say you’re out there fighting for the middle class and fighting for the union workers and the little guys,” Brown said at a campaign appearance at South Station today.

Brown said national AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka — in town yesterday to talk up Warren’s union credentials at a labor rally — will be hard-pressed to defend Warren now.

“He’s going to have a very, very difficult time explaining to union workers why she’s been siding with the big corporations against the asbestos workers, against the steel workers, against the workers who are fighting for their pensions and their health care and their settlements. I think that’s hypocritical.”

The Herald reported today that Warren — a self-proclaimed fighter for the middle class — was hired to represent steel conglomerate LTV Steel in 1995 in its attempt to overturn a ruling forcing it to pay $140 million in retirement benefits to former employees.

The GOP should take Warren's speech at the DNC convention along with this information and run MA and national ads. She's not an Indian. She's not licensed to practice law. She was paid for legal work for an evil corporation trying to refuse payments/benefits to union workers.

“The fact that she made, when no one was looking — when you guys weren’t covering her — she made a choice. She chose to side with the large corporations and the big businesses,” said Brown. “She’s clearly a hired gun to manipulate the bankruptcy courts and get a benefit for the large corporations. “

It's amazing that she is anywhere near being still in the race. That shows just how much koolaid has been drunk in MA over the years - it gets into the marrow.
