Were these regular peace-loving NAZIS, moderate NAZIS, or radical NAZIS? Today, these questions need to be asked, because certain American politicians would apologize to the NAZIS and cater to the so-called peace-loving NAZIS and create a moral equivalency between the holocasut and a cartoon.

Titled Der Fuehrers Face, the short film that caused the uprising mocks not only Adolf Hitler, but also his aides Goering and Goebbels, and the Nazi belief system itself, and is clearly intended to do so. Featuring an insulting Donald Duck, it seems like crude propaganda, depicting Germans as cruel and stupid. Unconfirmed reports claim that the Germans actually rioted because Donald wasn't wearing pants.

For your viewing pleasure . . .
Der Fuehrer's Face - the original with Spike Jones & his City Slickers. (1942 music video? Whazzup widdat?)
They just don't make 'em like they used to.

"Some things never change.'One important note. This WAS produced for the US Government.
"The most notable of Disneys wartime efforts was a Donald Duck cartoon produced for the War Department, Der Fuhrers Face (1942), which won an Oscar for best short subject and may have been the single most popular propaganda short produced during the war."

My 94 years & 11 months old father, was a Captain with the 45th (157th Regiment) at Anzio, having gone AWOL from hospital recuperation to rejoin his outfit. Strange how he never mentioned this particular difficulty with a Disney Cartoon!
FYI for a good read on the 45th Inf.Div. (National Guard CO/NM/OK), look for the "Rock of Anzio" by Flint Whitlock.

Small world.
My 88-year-old dad was there too - with the 34th I.D. (mostly Iowa) in a Combat Engineer unit.

“The only thing we have to fear are insensitive, inflammatory movies that hurt the feelings of Nazis and Japanese. We absolutely reject its content and message.
Did we overreact when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Of course not.”

Disrespecting the Fuhrer has to be right up there with disrespecting Mohammed. No wonder the Germans didn’t like us.

My 88-year-old dad was there too My Dad was there also, 1st Ranger Battalion... and had he not been taken from us way too young at 51 in 1971, he would be 92 today.
And I'm guessing he'd be really, really... teed off at Obama!
Bingo... Right on target, Clint!

That opening song gets cranked on the loud speakers around 5 times during the weekend every year on our annual Octoberfest camping trip in the woods.
That reminds me that i’m going to have to go out and buy a crap load of german beer for the upcoming trip.....and a new air mattress.
