The UN is the biggest waste of taxpayer dollars. I just can’t understand why Obama has said nothing??? Why is he campaigning like nothing is going on?? Our Embassies and allies are under attack and he is smiling at fundraisers with the Hollywood elites. What the hell is going on?

Obviously this pinhead doesn’t understand that Germany and Japan were highly focused, highly technologically adept, stalwart countries that went insane.

Iran’s going to need more than the “insane” part.

What am I thinking.. Obama is so afraid that he might have a Carter October that he is choosing not to talk at all. He is trying to distance himself from the entire situation. He getting bad advice.

Why do I get the feeling that I don’t know what side the United States is going to be on?

I don’t think so for the most part. I think Obama is chickenshit and Putin glad of it.
If Russia goes into Iran, it would be after the fact and they know it, at that point, Iran has nothing else of value and Russia nothing to gain - so why bother?
Perhaps if Putin shared the same kind of hatred for Israel that Imadinnerjacket does then maybe

just my 2 cents worth

Agree- Obama is irrelevant. Your last sentence might be the closest. Big Satan has his hands tied.

Bipartisan political/regulator constituents will probably command the politicians to apologize to Iran for that in order to keep their globalist freight fuel prices down.

I don’t know how the people of Israel can continue going to their jobs and live their lives. If I lived there I’d be scared spitless. If they attack they will be at war with the whole region and if they wait they will be attacked with nuclear weapons and then be at war with the whole region. I just don’t see a third option for them.

Israelis (and Jews everywhere, really) have always lived in a situation similar to what you describe.

“In circumstances in which they (the Israelis) have prepared everything for an attack, it is possible that we will make a pre-emptive attack. But we do not see this at the moment.”

You’ll never see it coming.

Agree. We have it so easy here in the USA, chances of personally being under attack here over the last century being extremely low even during wartime. Commander Pancho Villa attacking New Mexico in 1916, the Japanese attacking mostly military facilities in Hawaii in 1941, and of course 9/11/2001, being the notable few times it happened. And most Americans untouched on our soil

Israel has suffered not only through many repeated wars with it's Islamic neighbors since the 1940's, but also suffered repeated daily attacks against it's civilians in the "peacetime" years between wars.

Scary. No way they can get used to that, being constantly threatened.

Iran may wish to re-visit their history books, and pay particular attention to the last nation state to attack American interests, paying special attention to the final scenes.

It is always best to overestimate your enemy as opposed to underestimating him. The fine line between overestimation and paranoia should be carefully chosen, and appropriate measure taken. That said, let’s see what Iran could do, in the worst-case scenarios, for which we actually have evidence of their capabilities: Iran is known to have an advanced chemical and biological weapons capability, developed after having their heads handed to them by Saddam decades ago. It is said to be as advanced as almost any nation’s program. Chemical weapons, while not to be taken lightly, aren’t quite the threat as biological weapons. Particularly problematic of all biological weapons, are botulinum toxin, anthrax, and smallpox. We have no true knowledge, available in the public realm as to Iran’s capabilities with these particular poisons, we can assume they probably can come up with one or two of these. Ricin is also a problem in public water supplies, and public food supplies.

We also know you don’t need very sophisticated delivery systems to use these bio weapons in our cities, causing untold casualties, and devastating economic losses. Imagine a dozen of America’s largest cities suddenly being attacked by people, who have come through Mexico, from Venezuela, and been emplaced ahead of time to use these options in the event they are given a particular signal from the Mullahs.
We also know Iran has the ability to concentrate radioactive substances such that they could use dozens of “dirty” radiological devices, simultaneously in a dozen of our cities. Does anyone think that our government could cope with a dozen Hurricane Katrina evacuation/rescue catastrophes, simultaneously?

We need to decide how much of what I’ve laid out is possible, how much is likely, and what kind of precautions we can take ahead of time. Paranoia? I hope so. So, when we wonder why Iran is making threats that seem beyond their current military capabilities, we also need to think about their asymmetric capabilities as well. Do you feel confident, that our current occupant of the White House, who couldn’t protect our ambassador in Libya, with all that was known ahead of time, particularly the date, is capable of the foresight to head off such scenarios? Do you feel comfortable that he is the guardian of your children’s safety, given how he has bungled just about every military decision he has to make? (He didn’t attack Osama on three prior occasions when he had similar intelligence as the fourth and successful attack. He only did so, when the rumor mill and some of the press began to get wind that he had let three prior opportunities pass.)

The argument is always made that we can contain Iran, and can deal with a nuclear Iran, but that assumes we are dealing with rational actors. It is becoming increasingly clear, we are not dealing with a singular rational actor with Iran, but are looking at a full spectrum of ideological mindsets when we look at the Iranian government. At any given moment, a death or internal power struggle could leave the extremists in power, and that could suddenly unleash the dogs of war. Personally, I think it is getting late in the game to head off a huge loss of human life in a war with Iran.

I believe they don’t think they, and by extension, can conquer the west as it currently exists. They want to have a shuffling of the cards and be re-dealt their hands, to be able to bring Islam to the world. If 99% of the world has to die, for Islam to be dominant, who doubts they would make this trade?
