'Iran discovered listening device near nuclear site'

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards discovered an electronic monitoring device near the Fordow nuclear site in northern Iran last month, The Sunday Times reported Sunday, citing western intelligence sources.

Soldiers were checking on communications terminals at Fordow when they discovered a rock, according to the report. When the soldiers attempted to move the rock, it exploded, presumably self-destructing.

The device was reportedly capable of intercepting data from computers in Fordow. The Iranians did not report the discovery, according to the Times.

Iran uses the Fordow facility to enrich uranium to a fissile concentration of 20 percent, the part of its work that most worries the West as it takes it significantly closer to the 90 percent level needed for bombs. It built the site some 80 meters below rock and soil to better protect it against enemy strikes.

Last week, Iranian atomic energy organization chief Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani admitted that power lines between Qom and the Fordow facility had been blown up on Aug. 17.

Sounds like somebody has a pretty sophisticated operation inside Iran.

A story only a follower of the 7th centuries version of L. Ron Hubbard could believe. The device self-destructed, yet the Iranians were able to discern its purpose and capabilities.

Right.

I knew a number of very decent, intelligent Iranian graduate students. God, I hope they’re all right in that benighted country.

Oh crap! They found it.

Now I’ll have to resort to ‘Plan B’.

“Soldiers were checking on communications terminals at Fordow when they discovered a rock,....”

Well, so much for that gambit. Now, all the Iranians have to do is find more rocks; and the Israelis won't be able to listen in, anymore.

This whole thing is dumb.

"Western Intelligence sources" reported this. Does "Western" include "Israeli" ??

Iranians discovered a rock. They moved it; it exploded.

Iranians did not report the discovery.

If "Western Intelligence sources" would just shut the hell up about it, the Iranians wouldn't know as much.

Now all we need to do is look for every place around the country where Iranian soldiers are inspecting rocks. That will identify every one of their nuclear facilities.

Perfect.

“Now all we need to do is look for every place around the country where Iranian soldiers are inspecting rocks.”

Due to Mossad Intelligence being excellent, they probably have listening devices in other items. Soldiers should probably check the the new water kettles in their underground locations, check the bottom of their newly issued shoes, check their hair preparation for nanites that transmit information, etc.

I suspect these transmitting devices are why Netanyahu knows they will have the bomb in six months or less.

Agreed - when they ‘go’, we’ll know that it was time. And nobody screws with Mossad.
