Anyone who wants to take the time to read the history can read about German soldiers murdering families in their homes in Alsace and Belgium as they invaded and retreated.

I go through Germany a lot on business and the attitudes are still there. Especially in the Deutsche Polizei, who still snigger and sneer at any non-Germans.

Not all of Germany is like that but it's still a strong undercurrent, buttressed by their economic resurgence. In the 70's, those attitudes were under tight wraps.

It's a place that really might just deserve a permanent foreign military presence.

People often don’t get that one reason we stuck around after the war was to stop our now-allies from doing it again. Their records prior to and during WW2 was nothing to be proud of.
