Muslims who are sympathetic to the values of Western Civilization are too fearful to change. It means death, not just for themselves as inidiviiduals, but for all the members of their families.

I wouldn’t disagree with that stridently. I think there’s a good deal of truth to it. I do always hold out hope for the impossible though. Sometimes you get surprised.
That doesn’t mean you expose yourself based on hopes.
