the G-man, along with Ronald Reagan, are the reason I’m a conservative today. When I was a kid, my mother (a democrat but who respected Liddy because “he was the one guy who wouldn’t rat”) took me to his lecture. That opened my eyes.

I was intrigued by this and so I wrote him a letter, through the publisher, asking him what this meant. He was kind enough to respond and told me it essentially meant:
Grab 'em by the balls
And their hearts and minds will follow
Since that time, I've had an identical plaque on my desk, as well as putting that Latin phrase on my business cards.
Liddy was the first major step in me leaving liberalism and the Democratic Party.
I was living in Austin, TX. in the early 80's and the University was sponsoring a "debate" between Liddy and Timothy Leary.
I went there "hating" Liddy and ready to cheer Leary on. Seems they had met years ago when Liddy was a member of a raid on Leary's house in Poughkeepsie.
Long story short: Liddy was smarter, funnier, and made more sense than the hapless Leary.
I was so impressed I went out and bought a copy of "WILL" and finally started to understand conservative thought.
It also made me think, "if the media has so misrepresented Liddy...what else have they been lying about?"
