Chris Wallace asked the NYT guy if the Administration really believes the movie is the cause or are they just saying it to keep the heat off their policies. He said that in his conversations with insiders he's not getting the impression that it's just a line but that they really believe that damm movie caused it.

I agree, any other explanation would point to Obama's failure.

I grew up knowing the FBI was nationally, here, and the CIA has authority to handle out of country incidents. The first time I remember the FBI going out of country was the investigation of the Cole. Since then it seems they are going out of country on a regular basis.

Right. There was a time when we had bombers and long-range missiles in silos in the midwest that might be used to “investigate” such things. Now, it’s lawyers and “rules of engagement” and such. The FBI. A big waste of taxpayer dollars that will resolve NOTHING and lead us nowhere. The most you can hope for is a made-for-TV mini-drama in which an aspirin factory gets bombed and the president is reported to have stressed over whether the night janitor was killed.

I am old enough to remember photos of similarly dressed men (in warm countries) throwing rocks at American Embassy walls and graffiti saying Death to America, when LIFE magazine was a source of news.

When the Carter hostage situation was going on, the international line was "The Ugly American." Carter seemed clueless to counter it. Under Reagan, that shrunk significantly.

We are seeing it develop again and we see Team Obama's ineptness to quell it or change it.

'Hey, Obama, we are all Osamas'. That may resonate.
