A theological professor at an African-American Christian seminary has complained to federal anti-discrimination officials that he was fired based on his conservative views, particularly his stance against homosexuality.

Rev. Jamal-Dominique Hopkins told the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in a filing last month that administrators at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) had begun mistreating him after attendees at an event he organized were given a book that called homosexual activity sinful.

“given a book that called homosexual activity sinful”

Was the book the Bible?

Don’t hand out the Bible - it calls homosexual activity sinful! You could be fired - at the Seminary!

It is hard to even write satire anymore when the world is so bizarre!

But isn’t it the school’s right to employ professors theologically in line with its mission?

One doesn’t need the bible to figure out that butt-boinking might not be the healthiest extracurricular activity.

Kudos to him for at least expressing his opinion.

Note to those who don’t understand the meaning of “phobia”:

I don’t give a smelly Obama about what folks choose to do in the bedroom. And perhaps no one else would either if they would keep their mouths shut. (I know, there’s a plethora of double-entendres lurking here.)

Ha. But not enough for them to have a “live and let live” attitude toward them. They want special rights and protections, and also to be fully “equal”: as in, accepted, embraced, celebrated.

In a just world yes. But we do not live in a just world and as long as leftists can batter us with EEOC complaints we neet to use the same system to fight back. Ideally we would win a bunch of these suits and get the left clamoring for the end of the EEOC.

How silly of him to actually believe in the Bible and Scripture. He should know that the Bible should be ignored and it is political correctness that will get you to Heaven. (/sarcasm, but sad)

Interesting point and something for me to think about. I'm pretty sure I'll still come down on the side of folks having the freedom to employ whomever they wish, but I promise I will think about it.

Yes, it is sad. But we have reached the point where liberals view the Bible as some sort of paranormal and outdated nonsense. Or as Dan Savage calls it, “bullsh*t”.

He will piss on the academic freedom matter because it is a religious organization. He may have a very good claim on the slander allegation. I would focus on that and also communicate with the board of trustees, many of whom may disagree with the administration. They have the authority to does the department head and administrators without fear of being held liable in a lawsuit.

In January, the US supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod was free to hire and fire teachers on theological grounds. This guy has no case.

Perhaps not but many people who have no case still sue in order to intimdate people and organizations with the cost of defending a suit. The left does this all the time and have set up a system in which there is virtually no punishment for abusing law suits.

The left created this system and I am happy to see it being used against them.

You’re right. A seminary firing a black man for teaching the Bible’s literal interpretation, under the guise of being non-discriminatory.
I would have said this was ridiculous, but then there’s an idiot who said peanut butter and jelly is racist.
