4th grader's drawing assignment on 9/11 attacks raises concerns

El Paso, TX--Parents of some elementary school students are furious over a class assignment. They said children were asked to draw images depicting the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

Parents said the teacher gave specific instructions to fourth-graders at Hughey Elementary in central El Paso.

"'We had to draw the boom cloud, the planes hitting, and people jumping out of the windows,'" said Ivie Gremillion.

Those are the directions Gremillion said her daughter was given on Monday.

The drawing includes people jumping out of burning buildings yelling, "Help," and "I love you," and another student's drawing has one stick figure saying "One way ticket to heaven."

"That's something that kids should get in trouble for drawing. That's people being murdered, committing suicide," said Gremillion.

Gremillion said the teacher's lesson didn't stop there.

"'The Afghans did this because they hate all of us and want to kill all of us,'" Gremillion claims the teacher told her daughter.

Parent and school district are ridiculous in their reactions! The kids need to know this info. 9/11 should not disappear down the memory hole of this nation to join Pearl Harbor and the Soviet Union.

Personally, if adults won't remember graphically ... let's indoctrinate children to know the truth.

Horrible, ain't it?

People jumping for their dignified death screaming "help".

Those folks kissed their wives and husbands goodbye for the day just a couple of hours ago and they faced the FACT that life had seconds left .. and they chose how to die.

Now,

If the proper motivation for this horrible reality is taught alongside ... FOLLOWERS OF ISLAM caused all of this death ... well and good.

The teacher needs a new job now, folks.

I need to add that my grandson in NY (middle school) was given a couple of assignments on 9/11. He was an infant when the attacks occurred. One of his assignments was to interview his mother about what she was doing when she learned about the attacks. During the course of the interview as to his mother’s whereabouts and memories, it came out that the teacher was only 10 on the day of the original 9/11 attacks. My daughter exclaimed,

“10! That must mean that your teacher (social studies) is only 21!”

“He just graduated from college,” responded my grandson.

So this will be a joint effort spanning all generations to keep thess memories alive, as it must be. May it never get to the point of the fairly recent Smithsonian exhibition on the dropping of the A bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which was done from the standpoint of the Japanese.

“”’The Afghans did this because they hate all of us and want to kill all of us,’” Gremillion claims the teacher told her daughter.”

Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi’s and were sworn al Qaeda terrorists who came to the US to complete their training. They and their operations were funded by their leader, Osama bin Laden, also from Saudi Arabia. Years earlier, bin Laden had been banished from his homeland for his involvement in international terrorist activity. The Taliban in Afghanistan provided safe harbor for bin Laden and other al Qaeda terrorists which is why the Bush adminstration went ahead with military operations there in the fall of 2001. Any questions?

This was a dumb assignment with instructions waaayy too specific.

The comments that student should get in trouble if they were to initiate such drawings is equally ridiculous.

Gremillion... wants her daughter to know the events of the day.
"I would like a counselor to go in there and re-explain all this to that class," she said. However, not the gruesome details, at least not for now.

As a baby boomer, I can tell you for a fact we learned about Pearl Harbor WITH the gruesome details and WITHOUT a feckin' counselor.

One of our kids was the same age as that woman’s kid. All the students at his school saw the people falling and msm talking about the bodies falling and the muslims laughing from tv. TVs were on constantly for two days in every classroom. The tv at home was on FOX 24/7. No counselor was needed. What is that woman telling her kids about why daddy is in the military? When he’s overseas I suppose the kids will be told he’s just gone to get some ice cream.
