Muslim Brotherhood youths announced on their Facebook pages their solidarity with calls for the demonstration, saying they would participate in it despite a formal decision made by the party not to call for protests. Coptic priests nationwide rejected the offensive film, stressing that religious symbols are a red line.
In a statement released yesterday [September 11], the US embassy in Cairo condemned the insulting film, describing it as a continued effort by misguided individuals to hurt the feelings of Muslims. The statement declared the United States firm rejection of hurting the religious beliefs of others.
In reaction to the film, hundreds of followers of Islamic movements yesterday surrounded the entrances leading to the American embassy in Cairo to denounce the film that offends the Prophet Muhammad, which was produced in collaboration with Coptic Egyptian immigrants in the United States. The US embassy had a heavy security presence in order to protect the premises.
The protest was attended by leaders of Islamic movements, most notably Mohammad al-Zawahiri, brother of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri; a number of sons of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the Emir of the Gamaa Islamiyya group; Sheikh Gamal Saber, coordinator of the Hazimoun movement and Sheikh Abu-Yahya al-Masri, spokesman for the Salafist Voice of Wisdom Coalition, which called for the protests.
Zawahiri said that the US government's response by issuing a statement through its embassy in Cairo condemning the producers of the video that insults the Prophet was not enough. He added that the filmmakers should be arrested and brought to trial, like Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, who was falsely accused of slander and inciting violence.
Gamal Saber, coordinator of the Hazimoun movement and co-founder of the Egyptian Umma Party, said that there is ongoing coordination between Islamic and revolutionary forces to organize a million-man demonstration in the event of the film being aired in the United States. He said that the forces are demanding that US citizenship be revoked from the Coptic Egyptian immigrants involved in the production of the film and that they be prevented from entering Egypt.
They also called for the severing of all relations with the United States and withdrawing the Egyptian ambassador from Washington, since the United States has once more allowed pastor Terry Jones who had previously burned the Koran three times to insult the Prophet.
Ahmad Khalil, spokesman for the Salafist Nour Party, said that the party supports all escalatory measures against the offenders of the Prophet, adding that the party will stand in the face of anyone who tries to insult Islam anywhere in the world.
For their part, Muslim Brotherhood youths announced via official and unofficial websites their participation in the million-man demonstration. Ali Khafagy, secretary-general of the youth committee in the Freedom and Justice Party, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, denied that the party made a formal decision to take part in the demonstration.
He said, [Participation in] the million-man demonstration is still being discussed, but the Brotherhood supports all escalatory measures against the film and the Coptic immigrants involved in producing it.
Gamaa Islamiya hailed the honorable position of the loyal patriotic Copts who rejected this slander, calling on Coptic institutions and churches in Egypt to take the right position in order to expose the liars who sought to incite sedition.
Nader Murkos, member of the Council of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, said that the church condemns pastor Terry Jones claims, rejects insults against any prophet, and respects all religions and prophets. He criticized the Coptic immigrants move to produce a film that offends the Prophet Muhammad.
Radi Atallah Iskandar, pastor of the Attarine Evangelical Church in Alexandria, said that pastor Jones promotion along with some radical Copts of a film that offends the Prophet of Islam is inconsistent with the spirit and teachings of Christianity. He added that religious symbols are red lines that no one is allowed to cross.
Can we post the You-Tube video link to make sure it gets the widest possible audience? We really need to review it to be able to properly judge the reaction.
Democracy requires that a modicum of civility be maintained. Obviously these people are not ready.
Is it OK to insult the prophet on FR? Here goes. Prophet Moe was a pedophile. He thighed Aisha when she was 6 and had intercourse with her when she was 9. Is it an insult if it’s true?
“Day of anger” also translates as “day of rage”.
This isn’t about a frickin’ movie. It is about hatred of the Great Satan they believe is The United States. They are Islamonazis and this is not “merely workplace related violence”.
And again the Hate Department is refusing to stand up for first amendment protections of free speech, freedom to criticize, and freedom of religion.
And the ACLU commie p&ssies are silent as usual. They only defend the use of taxpayer dollars to submerge a crucifix in a jar of urine with the name P!ss Chr!st.
“Target rich environment”
Huma’s relatives using our money for no good? What a surprise. As long as they are all gathered together, let’s bomb the snot out of them. They’re only pulling this crap because they know there will be no consequences for them under hussein’s reign.
Fine with me. And we, in turn, cut off all aid to Egypt, Libya, and any other middle-east country that wants to get in the act. Along with bombing the Libyan security forces headquarters, since they aided and abetted the killing of our ambassador and others.
Well well well....Son of Zawahir and sons of the blind Sheik involved.
Spawn of the WTC bombing and 911.
Muslims will never be ready for democracy.
Sounds ilke a good place for an accidental drone strike.
And once they obtain more comfortable numbers, we will see such protests within the USA against anyone who "insults Islam".
No doubt an increasingly important survival skill for Christians in Moslem nations.
There's a really stupid film on Youtube circulating around the Blogosphere which some are claiming is the movie in question. It's so bad that I can only watch it for a few minutes. I hope the movie, if it really exists, is something more profound.
America's Marxist, closeted homosexual, pResident is allowed to go to Las Vegas to campaign and party while he excoriates ordinary Americans for vacationing there. Incredible double talk and hypocrisy on display here. (Don't expect the Democrat Party Media to call him on it.)
I would like nothing better than to see the entire million man demonstration march directly into the closest body of deep water. At least they’d be of some use as fish food.
But for the unconscionable lamestream, the above described would be losing this election by 60 points.
He'd only have his hardcore base.
“Friday of Anger”
What is to distinguish it from the other 6 days they are angry?
I say bomb them with the gospel.
Drop thousands of gospels, gospel tracts, audible toys with the gospel of Jesus Christ in their language on the demonstrations and their cities.
It will reassert our freedom of speech and freedom of religious expression at the same time it’s the mullah’s worst nightmare.
It will help change their culture. At the same time, it’s non-violent.
Their will be some domestic grumbling that public funds are being used to promote a religion. But it’s not like there is a specific law that is promoting a religion. And the U.S. President could simply state that it’s a psychological operation in response to a violent attack on our embassies.
This (including the planned Friday riots) were all planned a long time ago.
Movie? They looked for a match to get things started and they found one. If it hadn’t of been this, it would have been something else.
Now that the radicals (Muslim Brotherhood) managed to get themselves elected, they are solidifying their power. Those elections were the last elections those countries will see in a long time.
All the Arab Spring accomplished was to turn a bunch of moderate Arab countries into Irans.
Iran II - Koranimal Boogaloo!
Starring Barry “I'm kinda nota Muslim, sorta” O’Bammy and featuring his sidekick Cairo Speech Reset and the Brotherhood of Muslims! With Special Guest Star Bibi Netanyahu as “the Bad Jew”!
So action-packed! You can't miss it!
Rounding up and killing every Coptic and then distributing their property are next on the agenda. We’ve been at war with radical Islam for a half century now.
Haven’t watched it yet, but here is the vid
I haven’t watched it yet but I believe this is the film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC6yGzpSvjU

Sheet of glass.
Vast wasteland... nevermind, it already is.
How many of Obama’s Muslim Bros are sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom tonight?
When I lived in Cairo, it was Friday mid-day after prayers when the shtf.
Americans in Egypt and mideast and other islamic countries like France and England: get out now.
Something tells me we need to either 1) immediately send Marine reinforcements to guard our embassy in Cairo, or 2) close our embassy in Cairo immediately and get all out people out of there tonight. If we do neither we’re likely to see a repeat of the horrific attack in Libya.
All Egypt east of the Nile (including the Suez and Sinai Peninsula) ought to be turned into a no fly zone and Coptic safe homeland if this thing continues to escalate. Landwise, it roughly reflects their 15% of the population. Give them one generation with minimum Muzzie interference and they will be as prosperous and stable as Israel.
They might even get a million to show up because we all know they have nothing productive to do.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Better to bomb them with pork and porn.
To think Michelle Bachmann was villainized by fellow Republican politicians for wanting to investigate the Muslim Brotherhood influence in this Regime.
Then it’s time to counter with another burn a koran day, or make fun of mohammed day. Or insult a terrorist day. Why not obtain copies of this film and invite freinds and family over for a pig roast and viewing? C’mon people where’s our creativity?
‘To think Michelle Bachmann was villainized by fellow Republicans____________’
Michelle is steadfast, tho.
Must be feeling relief of a sort - - - vindicated.
Hope most of those Republicans felt like she, but were cowards to agree.
NO apologizing to Muslims for freedom of speech!!!!!!! Many people despise mohammed’s name, face and having ever existed. They have the right to talk about it. How else will the fraudulent veil ever be lifted. Personally, I’m not a “hater” but I take great pride in “saying” I hate Mohammed, he’s an evil fraud if I CHOOSE to. If Muslims are offended? Too bad.
I watched it. It is hyperbolic in places, but grounded in fact in others. I’ve read much of the Koran. To say that I do not get the idea that Mohammed was a particularly nice guy even from the holy book of Islam would be an understatement.
