Romney/Ryan supporters in Johnson County got a rally-cry from Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus Thursday night.
Priebus visited the republican campaign office in Coralville as the group prepared for the Presidents stop in Iowa City Friday.
Republican leaders say they refuse to let President Obama snag the spotlight in Iowa City.
"He gives great speeches that's what he does," said Priebus. "Unfortunately for the president and our country, he's not good at following through and that's a bad thing."
This week, the UI College Republicans said they were on campus tabling, registering students to vote and gathering support for their event in Hubbard Park. The rally starts at 1:00 p.m. and is aimed at showing a republican presence during President Obama's stop in Iowa City.
At the republican campaign office in Coralville, GOP supporters dialed up local voters, and dipped into the problems impacting middle class families.
"We want to make sure people look at the economic issues and how they're effecting young people today," said Kelsey Boehm with UI College Republicans.
Priebus and other supporters said they expect Obama to address college debt and post-graduate unemployment while in Iowa City Friday. The RNC Chairman said he feels the president is failing on both accounts.
"It makes it tough on everyone," Priebus said, "on Iowa university system, if you can't place people, it makes it tough across the country for everyone."
When asked how Romney can win our battleground state, Priebus said the phone calls, posters and campus rallies are part of the strategy toward an Iowa victory.
"We need to knock on every door we can, fill victory offices like this here, we have to go door-to-door to win. That's the only way to do it."
