NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw was taken by ambulance to a Charlotte hospital this morning after an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Brokaw, 72, who stepped down as anchor of “Nightly News” after the 2004 election, has been working a break-neck pace the last two weeks first at the RNC and this week at the DNC. Brokaw has been up early, appearing on “Morning Joe,” then reporting throughout the day and into the night. Last night, he appeared on Sean Hannity‘s Fox News show.
An MSNBC spokesperson tells TVNewser, “On the set of ‘Morning Joe’ this morning, Tom Brokaw felt light-headed. Out of an abundance of caution, he was taken to a hospital and is being evaluated.”
A gifted storyteller, and best-selling author, during his 7am appearance, Brokaw relayed a story involving former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin:
“There was a party at the top of a hotel yesterday,” said Brokaw. “A very sleek, modern hotel, and the glass is not exactly clear in terms of where you step next. So Bob Rubin, former Secretary of the Treasury, stepped confidently into the party room and deeply into the pool.”

Was the excitement of Queen Michelle’s speech one night and Bill Clinton’s only 24 hours later a little too much for Tom?
Well, I sincerely hope Brokaw is all right.
But I’m not surprised he was feeling lightheaded, from all the spinning he and his colleagues were doing at the DNC.
Was watching a livecast from the DNC on the Blaze, yesterday, and one of the guys said he saw Brokaw that morning and that he looked terrible.
Perhaps he should check out Cuba’s health care that journ-o-lists love so much.
Brokaw used to at least have an ounce of credibility. I’m sure he’s embarrassed at what NBC has become.
Maybe he was overcome by the Platform Debacle. Its hard to watch your “god” going down in flames.
Now that he’s in the hospital, Brokaw is secretly glad ObamaCare has not kicked in yet.
Wow... might we be seeing a replay of Tim Russert’s untimely ending, which occurred at about this time (maybe earlier) in 2008?
Brokaw is an unabashed cheerleader for Obama, but all the same, I hope he’s OK.
Sorry to hear about Brokaw. Maybe he’ll see the writing on the wall and completely step down from the news biz. He could still contribute by writing articles.

After two nights of 0bama worship he felt a tingle going down his left arm.
Just because somebody shows up regularly in your living room, does not make him a good person. Tom Brokaw’s entire career has been to usually subtly and occasionally overtly support the decadent Democrats. He is a bad man who turned NBC into a platform for the Democratic Party.
Why would he be embarrassed? Didn’t he help make them what they’ve become?
He’s got to get a better fit for his dentures. They keep slipping when he speaks and he needs to sound intelligent.
Makes one wonder just how hard Mr Brokaw prayed to our God on his way to the hospital. I hope he has the sense to see this for the wake-up call it is.
