The “WASP Elite” didn’t step-aside entirely. Much of the WASP elite became the leftist elite.
The WASP elite also transformed their own Churches too - that is why we see both the decline of mainline Protestantism, as well as these churches cheer-leading for gay marriage, socialism, etc...

As an old Bircher, I can tell you that my greatest enemy was the WASP.
They just COULD NOT bring themselves to point a finger at a commie and say “commie pig.” (Ask Senator McCarthy)
Instead, they pointed fingers at us and cried “bigot, redneck, fool, uneducated back wood’s idiots!”
And the commie pigs laughed up their sleeves, because they had cowed the WASP into doing their bidding. And the WASP went willingly.
Now, its: “Who knew? Oh woe is us, who knew!?”
We did bung heads, and you attacked us with a fever that even impressed the commie pigs. Guys like Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al. “Where’s your tin foil hat? Been seeing black helicopters again?”
Hope you like the world that evolved from your stupidity, WASP, and yes you WERE warned, but you of the superior intellect and education ‘knew better’.
