Never bring a knife to a gun fight!!
:)
Back in the 1970’s the Saudis were suppose to be out of oil less then 30 years.
That is a curiosity isn’t it, that some oil wells seem to refill.
Ever read the Fifth Commandment carefully?
You get twenty points if you have any idea why I said that.
I agree. We should be building nuclear plants and preparing additional sites and laying the infrastructure to drop new power plants in place.
Some say that oil may not be from dead dinos after all. It may be naturally occurring because of pressure and heat.
Catholic or Protestant Bible version?
Lol, Hebrew.
But to answer your question, that “father and mother” thingy... that one.
Northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan have hundreds of small hydro projects. All of them aging badly and falling into disrepair. The water is still there and the only thing lacking is the will to apply some of that new technology. Most of the old dams are low head and have minimal environmental impact.

You got me. Zay moykhl. ;-]
Don't believe it?
A tribe will fight to the last man to keep every inch of his ground. They are virtually impossible to penetrate with a spy because everybody knows everybody else. Communications lines and command structure are clearly established. Indeed, the membership knows each other so well that they need minimal messaging subject to intercept.
None of those attributes are found in our "modern" macerated culture, destructive to families. When you don't have your own command structure, guess what you get? A government. The more fractured families then get, the more the government takes over familial maintenance of social welfare. The government then raises the kids, handles the "charity" and builds an infrastructure of tyranny.
The Afghans may be primitive, but compared to them we are prisoners in our own country. Yet there is absolutely nothing that says a tribal culture must be technically backward, violent, or superstitious. Yet I am not taking the position that I know what form tribalism might take in the modern world. Hence, my purpose in pointing this out to you is to evoke some reflection on the principles involved by which to take advantage of them in re-establishing and preserving our liberty. I thought you'd enjoy the provocation.
I get your point, but I came to my own conclusion about tribalism based on real life experience. Gangs are tribes, too. I think too broad a definition makes for trouble.
Your points about the destruction of the family unit are correct in that they lead to more and more government intervention. Given that much of the destruction of families originates in government intervention it becomes a negative spiral.
That said, I don’t think tribalism is healthy. As a policy it is the opposite of unity or oneness and is part of a policy of diversity - divide and conquer as used in politics. I can think of very few benefits of tribalism.
It is you who have broadened the definition as being determined by association, while the original is one of blood relation. You don't get to do that here.
Upon that faulty premise, you build the rest of your argument:
As a policy it is the opposite of unity or oneness and is part of a policy of diversity - divide and conquer as used in politics. I can think of very few benefits of tribalism.
Well defined and respected boundaries (aka private property) under the rule of a common law is what makes competing associations work. You are presuming someone possesses the power to divide. That takes a government, then wielding superior police powers destined to develop strife as a way to power. Once it has power such that it no longer needs to divide, the government then becomes an interest of its own, as we have seen.
I had thought you might possess the agility to get outside your box, simply to consider some ideas. I guess not.
You are describing America as a constitutional republic. Something we’ll have to get back to. The family is the basic unit of society. Stopping government from distorting natural family formation is a critical part of returing to our Constitution. Freedom of Association, even distateful association, must be respected. Tribalism, even family based, isn’t the right road back. Do you have examples where a return to tribalism brought more liberty and order?
The Innuit, the Magyars, the Bushment, the Masai, the Polynesians... all of which have remained on their land under the same families for far longer than any civilized society on earth.
