Romney Fires Back After DNC Platform Excludes Jerusalem as Israeli Capital

Unlike the party’s 2008 platform, the Democrats 2012 platform does not specifically mention Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and now Mitt Romney is firing back.

“It is unfortunate that the entire Democratic Party has embraced President Obama’s shameful refusal to acknowledge that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” Romney said in an e-mail to reporters.

Mitt Romney at the Western Wall

In 2008, the Democratic platform stated: “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.”

Earlier this year, White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated “the capital [of Israel] is something that should be determined in final status negotiations between the parties. I’d remind you that that’s the position that’s been held by previous administrations, both Democratic and Republican.”

The Jerusalem Embassy Act, which calls for Jerusalem to be recognized as the capital of Israel, was passed by Congress in 1995 but has never been implemented. Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and now Barack Obama have viewed it as a congressional infringement on the executive branch’s constitutional authority over foreign policy.

“Four years of President Obama’s repeated attempts to create distance between the United States and our cherished ally have led the Democratic Party to remove from their platform an unequivocal acknowledgment of a simple reality,” Romney’s statement read on Tuesday. “As president, I will restore our relationship with Israel and stand shoulder to shoulder with our close ally.”

Judaism is not Christianity.
Christians claim to be a superset of Judaism. We consider you to be otherwise pagans who have come closer to the truth.

Who does Romney think he is telling people where they should put their capital?
Jerusalem has been our capital since David. The modern state declared Jerusalem the capitol on 1950. This was recognized by the US Congress in 1995 in the Jerusalem Embassy Act

If the Jews want it to be in Jerusalem, so be it. It is their decision, not ours.
Jews have been in Jerusalem for over 3000 years.

This Jew has been conservative (politically) since 1990. I have relatives who think the same. My prediction is American Jews will give only 60% of their votes to Obama this time around. No higher than 65%

Classic tale of Jews voting for their oppressors. You would think that after ~4000 years of persecution they'd learn a lesson or two. I am a Jew and it just baffles the mind, senses and my very being. Maybe it's just plain old self-loathing?

As a Jew I can state honestly that not ALL Jews dislike Israel. Many are passionate in their love for Israel it's just that they (American Jews) are IGNORANT and ASSIMILATED where their Jewry (empty of substance other than a corned beef sandwich on rye) is all about the concept of JUSTICE. Justice for every human being on the planet (and their dogs) except their own kinfolk in Israel. One needs to learn, study and apply oneself in the Study of Judaism and that springboards into “AHAVAT YISRAEL” a LOVE for Israel, her land, her people, her Torah...that's it in a nutshell.

I said we are saved by grace, not by works.

You said That’s complete nonsense.

It's the Word of God and the heart of the gospel. Romans3:24, 28; 4:16; Galatians 2:26, etc, etc.

You said What you are basically telling me is that a Christian can still be “born again” by denying Jesus Christ.

I never said that. I said that there are many born-again Christians who are deceived but, "He that comes to Me I will in no way cast out" (John 6:37).

Ronald Reagan had eight full years in which he could have moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

So did Bush Jr.

Neither of them did jack squat about it.

So I think this is a non-issue.

>>Yeah, he also "killed Bin Laden".

The Stuxnet program was allegedly initiated under W's administration (remember, It's a "religion of peace").

Bracky, The Antibush, could've simply let the Stuxnet program die by not reauthorizing it -- thus facilitating the Islamic quest to aquire nuclear weapons.

Why didn't he?

Does Bracky's being half Jewish "p*ss of the Islamics"?

>>That Willard is willing to p*ss of the Islamics like Obama never was

That's laughable - Given that Willard is a Bishop/Stake President in America's home-brewed state-establlished version of Islam: Mormonism.

Thank you. That’s what I was trying to say, but from an evangelical Christian perspective. You understand from the inside. We love Israel so much and it was difficult to be with Jewish friends who obviously didn’t care. I said, “ignorant”, and you added “assimilated”. “Assimilated” says so much.

I recall the first time we invited some of the friends for dinner. I researched the subject of Kosher just in case. Then, as it seemed so complicated and I figured I couldn’t do it correctly, I asked, “Do you keep Kosher?” They roared with laughter and requested shrimp.

I studied a bit of the Torah while sitting on a jury a decade ago. Love it.

Good for you.

And good luck on finding the answer to your second question, as odd as it seems.

Q:

Are Mormons generally regarded as Christians, and how do their beliefs differ from those of the

Missouri Synod?

A: The Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod, together with the vast majority of Christian denominations in the United States, does not regard the Mormon church as a Christian church. That is because the official writings of Mormonism deny fundamental teachings of orthodox Christianity. For example, the Nicene Creed confesses the clear biblical truth that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, is "of one substance with the Father." This central article of the Christian faith is expressly rejected by Mormon teaching- thus undermining the very heart of the scriptural Gospel itself. In a chapter titled "Jesus Christ, the Son of God: Are Mormons Christian?" the president of Brigham Young University (Rex Lee, What Do

Mormons Believe? [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1992] summarizes Mormon teaching by stating that the three persons of the Trinity are "not... one being" (21), but are "separate individuals." In addition, the Father is regarded as having a body "of flesh and bone" (22). Such teaching is contrary to the Holy Scriptures, destructive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and indicative of the fact that Mormon teaching is not Christian. For more information about beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints read this

document prepared by the Commission on Theology and Church Relations.
