What a co-in-ci-dence. The very next day after the RNC ends without any dramatic birther scandal, the investigation into Arpaio is dropped.

If I didn't know it was just a coincidence, I'd be tempted to suspect something other than a coincidence.

Cheers!

well doesn't surprise me, but not for the same reasons as you.

The convention nowadays is jut a”good-time feel good variety” show. It's aimed at the wishy washy independents who are barely aware that there is an election let alone what the issues are. Many of them are of the ilk “Why-can’t-we-all-just-get-along?”. When I hear this I always ask, ‘So you think there is too much partisan rancor in DC?’. Of course they answer yes, then I say well then you think it would be better if everybody always agreed and marched in step together. The particularly simpleminded of that group readily agree with that statement. I then remind them that places like that are dictatorships or absolute monarchies. North Korea or Saudi Arabia come to mind. Sometimes they just get mad and walk away. If they want to discuss it more I then ask ‘So you want discussion where people of differing ideas for solutions of problems discuss them then come to an agreement? And that people who feel strongly about there positions should express those opinions forcefully?’ They then agree I reply well then my friend that's what we have now its called politics or partisanship! Then they say ‘Well some people never come to an agreement or compromise!’. I then reply you want them to be forced to ? By then the barely aware independents are sick of talking to me.

Another thing we readers of this site forget, this site is NOT representative of the thinking of the average GOP'er. I keep forgetting that too. They are far more liberal then the the average Freeper. I often get surprised by that when I venture forth into run-of-the-mill GOP-Land and talk politics. I guess that's why Romney won the primaries. Yes the GOP elites did at times bias the deck, but still Romney had sufficient support to win either by pluralities or straight out.

Unfortunately that's the truth of it. I don't like it, but there is a lot of things I don't like I have to live with.
