"As much as Americans love their military, thats not going to be cut; in fact, the Republicans, idiotically and unbelievably, want to increase it. The other functions of government − the police, justice and regulatory agencies − are really just a tiny portion of government spending."
That's a lie. The many kinds of federal funding for state and local governments (the tether of locals, including many Republicans, to federal government social and other policies) should be cut first. Social program spending is enormous.
The limey author can KAA (middle alpha means America's).

“U.S. On The Highway To Hell”
This is one of the few times that I wish Governor Perry was president. He’d sell that highway to a Spanish Company (for tolling), and those poor Spaniards would be left with the bill.

On the general thesis of the piece, remember this. Sexually confused socialists cannot continue to have big government without big revenues of great value (revenues, e.g., from manufacturing—not recirculating debt without big manufacturing). They’re going to lose during the years ahead.

There IS a hope ...
Someone willing to commit political suicide.
A band of men joined precariously together 240 some years ago and committed a suicide of sorts and, though the ensueing years WERE bloody, the initial outcome WAS a free and independent populace.
There may yet be another group willing to chance it for the ideology of a representative Republic ... again.

I think we are all just along for the ride in a car with no brakesn on the downslope of a long hill.
All that’s left is to wonder who will survive the crash....

At this point chaos and civil unrest likely break out and a dictator arises to rescue the people from their difficult situation. The political class will be only too happy to accommodate, although there will be contention over which party and who ascends to the role of supreme leader.

Sort of just like right now, huh? Two political parties with insignificant differences pretending to have major differences, playing us like we’re watching some scripted “reality TV”.

Today I agree with it wholeheartedly. God help my progeny. Getting my youngest grandson ready for his first Appleseed shoot. His kid sisters will similarly qualify a couple of years behind him- if we have time.
BTW: Kids shoot free at Appleseed.

No we are not.
Islam is at war with us, but we are most definitely not at war with Islam. George Bush saw to that with his “peaceful, friendly Islam” nonsense.

"Islam is at war with us, but we are most definitely not at war with Islam. " You're absolutely correct.
Our grandkids and their kids will ask why we didn't do something while we still could.
That time is now.
We ought to declare war on those POS Muslims, period!!

“No we are not.”
Far to many believe we are not. Some simply cant believe anyone would want to kill us all and destroy this nation. Others believe its like Vietnam and we can simply take our marbles and go home. This is going to be a fifty or hundred years war at least
What is required is total defeat of radical Islam and unconditional surrender as in WW2. I know sadly my kids and their kids will be fighting for the very survival of our nation. I've been thinking alot lately of the difficult days ahead. I am confident we will eventually win but its going to be at an unimaginable cost....
