The Obama campaign is stepping up its use of the man who may be the presidents most powerful surrogateformer President Bill Clinton. He appears in a new TV ad, vouching for Mr. Obamas stewardship of the economy.
The goal: transfer positive feelings voters have about the economy under Mr. Clinton to Mr. Obama.
This election to me is about which candidate is more likely to return us to full employment, Mr. Clinton says to the camera. The Republican plan is to cut more taxes on upper-income people and go back to deregulation. Thats what got us in trouble in the first place.
He goes on to praise Mr. Obamas economic plan and then says, It only works if theres a strong middle class. Thats what happened when I was president. We need to keep going with his plan.

In the past, Mr. Clinton has occasionally gone off-message, causing problems for the Obama campaign, though campaign officials say his assets far outweigh his negatives.

"I did not 'legitimately rape' that woman."
Risky.
It may cause some voters to gravitate to Obama. On the other hand, it may remind shaky Democrats just how much worse Obama is than Clinton.
“The goal: transfer positive feelings voters have about the economy under Mr. Clinton to Mr. Obama.”
What will they do to erase the ‘feelings’ of minority voters that Evita and Billy Boy offended on the last go-around?
Is he smoking a cigar during the ad?
"Risky... it may remind shaky Democrats just how much worse Obama is than Clinton."
Yep. Not only on economic matters, but everything else. And of the few useful "moderate" things Clinton did (after much arm-twisting), Obama has undone them all with his hard-left policies: Clinton signed Welfare Reform... Obama dismantled it; Clinton signed DOMA... Obama stubbornly refused to defend it in court, etc., etc..
FU bj!
LLS
Maybe they’re dumping Biden after all...
He is so inept, he has to get another president to make his tv ads.
Hurray!
Obama is going to make all us baby boomers middle-aged again!
Then he’ll have the same economy Clinton did, for the same reason...
Sounds like Dems are longing for the "good ol' days," or trying to evoke images of "happy days are here again"!
Smacks of desperation when a so-called "leader" must resort to calling on the husband of his former opponent to bail him out of a failed term in office.
Obie told Biden he needed a therapist, Biden thought he said the-rapist, and called Bill.
De-regulation. Might I mention the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which completely opened up that industry and allowed for the monopolization of the media. Who signed that, Pres. Clinton?
Bill Clintons famous words from his 1996 State of the Union messagethe era of big government is overshould become a focal point of the fall campaign.
The internet stock bubble burst in 1998. The Injustice Department's lawsuit against Microsoft didn't help the tech market (PC manufacturers) either.
President Clinton inherited a recovery. President Bush inherited a recession.
Only skepticism of his negatives for "going off script".
Pffft.
