” And how do you know that Romney won’t use this list to make sure that none of those judges are on any court? “

Because I have more respect for Sekulow than that. No way would he allow himself to be used in such a way; nor would he have signed on with Romney if he suspected such.

“Do you have any reason to believe anything he has ever said?”
Yes . . . he picked Paul Ryan.

There are times when the cynicism here gets a bit too much. Romney was not my first choice, but it’s him or Obama, and more and more I believe he will surprise us with his hard choices.

Yes . . . he picked Paul Ryan.

And then he immediately lied about him by saying he supports abortion in cases of rape and incest, or he compromised Ryan to drop his Catholic position on the issue.

If you look at the numbers and add the 9% that wish someone else would get in the race, you'd have 47% for Aiken.

If the Republicans elite would keepout of this, he'd win.

4* Should Akin withdraw from the campaign and have the Republicans select another candidate to run against Senator Claire McCaskill?

41% Yes
42% No
17% Not sure

If they run another Republican candidate this late, she will be guaranteed to win.

It’s just not going to stick this time. Besides every republican candidate on earth has disowned and disavowed Akins. That’s why it would tickle me to see him win. Who would he be beholden to? He would make em squirm. That’s the kind of senator we all say we want - un-beholden and his own man! Just my nature. Contrarian all the way.BR<> It is sticking and hurting other Senate Candidates. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2922186/posts

I don't like party hacks. I also don't like selfish schmucks too stupid to run in any competitive area. Akin is tailored to his current district, but doesn't know what to do outside of his Evangelical bubble. He lost 12 points in a weekend.

How many of that 41% are Democrats who want Akin to lose?!
Are you really that clueless?

Wasn’t he leading by 11 just a few weeks ago? Textbook example of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I`m talking about his ability to convince voters that he`s the best one for the job. THAT`s where he`s blowing it.

“I don’t like party hacks”

I’m not saying I like the guy. I usually go with Palin’s picks. But Akins’ position amuses and intrigues me. He may be a party hack, but now, without any party support, he can stick it to the rest of the party hacks should he win. I like it when a guy is in that position and can overcome the odds.

I’m sure this guy would have been Missouri’s senator anyway before his careless remark. And we’d be stuck with him as well as his being beholden to the RNC and its cash. Now, if he wins; it’s all his on his terms with middle finger extended to the RNC. Personally,I don’t think he is done for mostly because his opponent is McCaskill.

It is also interesting that Huckabee is jumping in to raise cash for Akins, and Huckabee has chided the RNC and Crossroads for abandoning Akins.

They might but it would have had far less effect for someone no longer in the spotlight continuing to campaign and getting face time.

Also, there are stats supporting a lower incidence of pregnancy among victims of violent rape. IOW, babies are more likely in consenting relationships. That's just common sense.

No it is not. A consensual relationship likely involves mutliple encounters of intercourse vs. once with a violent rape. Any one instance taken alone is no more or less likely to result in pregnancy. You are making an invalid comparison.

In short, Akin would have been defendable, but his friends through him under the bus. And their efforts backfired, fo all they did was buy themselves trouble.

Right - defending indefensible and innaccurate comments about rape would have been the true ticket to victory vs. making it clear you will have no association with it. The media and the Dems are still working to create an association to damage the ticket and throw us off message - so the true ticket should be to fully embrace it and lose ten times as much ground full throttle.

Time will tell, RW, but I doubt seriously that Akin is getting out of the race now that Huckabee has come to his defense and encouraged giving to his campaign. I’ll be sending him money myself.

So, the question is simply: Since he’s your candidate, what is the payoff in continuing to run him down?

And over an issue that every 12th grader has been taught in biology 101..and he's a college grad? I learned those facts when I was a teen and they didn't teach the in depth stuff they now teach in biology 101 in HS back then.

It is called a fertility cycle mr. dummy akin. Not all women can or do take the Pill.

No surprise - the fact you would give money to help the Democrats damage the conservative brand and the pro-life movement is in keeping with your other advocacy here to help the far left achieve its goals under the guise of being a "true conservative." Now you join McCaskill in her $2 million campaign to help Akin get to where he is now.

Now I think I'll send a $100.

The truth is that Akin, Huckabee, Schlafly, Bauer, etc. are unimpeachable pro-life, social conservatives.

The bottom line for you, though, is that Akin is NOT getting out. He won the primary.

Are you supporting your candidate or not?
