While I agree in theory with counter-protests, I think they’re kind of silly. I remember several times going to see a Pubbie candidate (Bush, McCain) speak at a local place, and seeing protesters across the street squawking about something. I don’t know if they thought they were going to influence the people filing in waiting to hear the speech, or they were just trying to draw attention to themselves. I think if the opposition wants to give a speech, they should able to do so without being interfered with. I guess holding up signs is fine, harassing attendees, verbally or physically, is not.
That's not what it is at all. Sgt. Schultz and "Chains" are going to be live on set in Tampa with Madcow, etc. Messina/Cutter/Axelrot likely had a Journolist conference call to set all the logistics up.
But one slip from "Chains" is all it will take.
It goes back farther than that. I remember the the great unwashed at the ‘72 GOP convention in Miami. They were supposed to cause more damage than they unleashed in Chicago for the dems; but it didn’t happen. Sure there were taunts and pigs’ blood—but no riots, no injuries. The GOP’s always handled potential mayhem better.. Even so, you’ve got to wonder what kind of thinking places Biden down there. Will he be the on-the-spot go-to guy for the media? Surely, the dems have better opposition research commentators.
