Akin releases new ad apologizing for ‘legitimate rape’ comments

Republican Representative Todd Akin resisted pressure to quit the U.S. Senate race in Missouri on Tuesday, releasing a new ad apologizing for his inflammatory remarks about rape that have reinserted controversial abortion politics into the U.S. presidential campaign.

In an ad released online, Mr. Akin again apologized for his comments Sunday, when he claimed in a television interview that women could not get pregnant from “legitimate rape,” even as senior Republicans condemned his remarks and called for him to step aside in the race.

“Rape is an evil act. I used the wrong words in the wrong way, and for that I apologize,” Mr. Akin said in the spot.

“The fact is, rape can lead to pregnancy. The truth is, rape has many victims. The mistake I made was in the words I said, not in the heart I hold. I ask for your forgiveness,” he added. Mr. Akin, noting that he is the father of two daughters, also said he wanted “tough justice” for rapists and expressed compassion for victims.

You’ll owe us an apology when this is used on an hourly basis by Obama to drag the election focus off of the issues and onto the actions of a man with a pea-size brain and a mammoth ego.

And no, he probably won’t win because by the election, even the people of Missouri will be embarassed by him.

No circular firing squad will be needed thank you, he has already committed suicide, shooting him again would be a waste of ammo.

The RNC has cut off funds,no one is going to endorse an idiot, he is on his own.I wish him all the luck in the world.

He is going to need it.

He has a solid Conservative record. He was defending life. He didn’t use brilliant rhetoric. I don’t care what Dems think. They’re hyopcrits anyway.

He’s on Hannity. Not exiting.

Engineer by trade. No arguing with engineers. He’s got an inner circle that’s totally out of the loop. He’s not getting out. No chance. No way.

Money the Rats spent on him was well invested. Will be beating the Wat on Women drum non stop.

Engineers = I’ll equipped for politics!

“He was defending life.”

No he wasn’t. By claiming that pregnancy is impossible in cases of rape he was not defending life. He was doing just the opposite.

Then we should not do it and I don't buy the fait accompli nonsense, especially against the clown McCaskill.

The RNC has cut off funds,no one is going to endorse an idiot, he is on his own.I wish him all the luck in the world. He is going to need it.

RNC is ran by RINOs and they haven't given Michele Bachmann a dime yet for her campaign. It is no wonder why they have not.

How do you defend anything if you’re too stupid to get elected?

Yeah, as of today. They did their political calculations and figured that they’ll let the msm and rinos do they’re dirty work for them. Who would run in his place and what would their chances be? Would he being forced to drop out do more harm than good in that potential Conservative voters feel that the rnc will not support a true Conservative and will not vote for a RINO?

It is a strange circumstance that Democrats spent 1.5 million dollars to help Akin win the primary.

Unless they have him by the proverbial balls that just doesn’t make sense.

Obviously there were more qualified men running against Akin that frightened the democrats.

Akin could step down and one of thes men might be able to win.

Did the Democrats shoot Akin down with their first shpout out of the barrel? It appears they hit him hard and know they can hit him again any time they like.Either that or they tossed 1.5 million down the toilet.

Stay in Todd! The dems and rinks want you out for a reason.

The RATs don't want Akin to drop out any more than we want Biden to drop out. They are both liabilities and that's good for the other side.

The guy is an idiot. He just said the moon is made out of Swiss cheese. Oh sorry, he did not say that he said something even more idiotic: a woman’s body can reject conception when it is being ‘legitimately’ raped.

He has got to go. He must leave. If he does not he, his family, his grandchildren, his city, his old district and State will be ridiculed for decades. What is worse he may single handily prevent the Republicans from taking the Senate. Which could result in more pro choice justices being appointed to the Supreme Court.

Why won’t he let a pro life candidate with a brain run for the Senate?

I realize this is a personal tragedy for Akin. He had the Senate seat in the bag, but his hubris and stupidity blew up his chances. Now we will soon know how stupid he really is. Does he do the honorable thing, the right thing and save his family and country? Or does he stubbornly insist on running? My bet is that he s even dumber than we think.

Lotsa news is leakin’ on Akin!

Get ready for the sheite storm after the 5;00 pm deadline passes. McCaskill promoted his candidacy for a reason, and we will soon see what that was.

That's such nonsense. It is pointless to stand up if you know you are going to lose, and you know you could step aside and let someone stronger carry on the fight. It is like an injured athlete refusing to get off the field and costing his team the game. You have to do what's best for the team. Is McCaskill getting reelected going to reduce abortions?? If McCaskill gets reelected it could mean Obamacare never gets repealed.

This loser is not sacrificing himself for the cause, he is sacrificing the cause for his lousy egotistical loser self.

He’ll walk away after he’s down 10 points in the polls 2 weeks from now. He’s still in a state of shock, but he’ll snap out of it, hopefully, otherwise I wouldn’t be shocked to see him lose by 20 in November.
